Would it be better to weld in a cage. Yes. But it would also be better to weld in a cage that is ment to be welded in.

This is a bolt in cage designed to be bolted in. He wants it bolted in. I'm sure at some point he would like to take it out. This is not a race car. And fact is... roll cages in street cars aren't the safest bet anyways unless you have a 5point and a helmet you drive around with daily.

So... per the O.P. request.... anyone out there ever bolted one of these in and care to help?

My suggestion would be to just call Jamo. Pay him to do it for you.

Hit the nail on the head. We're doing it next weekend

Is the cage already assembled into the car? do you want the carpet cut in squares or will do you prefer the X method for the footers?
Yeah it's already stuffed in there.

So if it is strictly for show, does not really do anything, and the car isn't tracked...why bother cutting up the car? Just leave it in there as is.

Wouldnt it be clanking round and vibrating all kinds? I mean im sure it offers a little bit of protection vs no structural integrity at all....

I would definately want the cage in there if I did any kind of tracking and or street hooning.

Strictly a show car. The cage is stuffed in and it rattles a little so that's why I want to
Bolt it.

I don't know why you guys have to start talking about the quality of the cage and blah blah blah I've already done my research on it, I've already spoken to multiple people on the forums and heard useful input. Why can't I simply make a post asking for a helping hand? If you can't help or don't want to help just continue on your marry way.

I bolted my Autopower cage. Straight up lined the cage in place then started to drill through the holes. Used the plates on the underside and bolted it tight. No rattling and everything fit very well.

Its pretty scary to drill holes like that, but in my opinion, its better to do it yourself man. I can come over and bring moral support/beer

Look, most people around here are pretty nice, when it all comes down to it and we meet in person. The thing is, what you are doing is not unlike permanently attaching a picnic table to the roof of your car. People have literally, actually, no idea why someone would do this. For me personally, I don't care - it's your car, and what you do to it is up to you. Maybe this is because I grew up in Hawaii and saw people try to be "bad-***" in a pink metal-flake mini truck rolling on D's with the bed spinning in the air but I have a "hey whatever" sort of attitude to it all. I want to do my Justy's hood in wood-grain vinyl but every time I have mentioned that, people say it's stupid, blah blah blah. I am still going to do it! Because I want to. But, I have to be aware that there are those people who feel it's important to point out obvious stuff. Like the "herrafrushed" thing. Hey whatever - but you must be aware that by doing that, you are gonna get harassed a little. It's just the way it goes.

Getting upset that someone is teasing or making fun of something like this cage is almost worse than the people giving you crap about it. This will never be reconciled; you will need to either get comfortable liking what you like "for whatever reason" or start to like what others like so that they do not feel uncomfortable by your difference that they do not understand, and then tease you because of this.

I drive around a 25 year old Subaru that "no one has heard of" listening to a MiniDisc wearing plaid and vintage glasses that I had before it was cool. So, yeah. I know that if I want to not get crap for these things I like and enjoy, I need to conform and get office specs and an MP3 iProduct. But I don't.

To be frank, I think the cage is silly - but if it makes you happy, I would help you put it in. Whatever.

I hope I did not offend, I hope this makes sense.

I understand that. Everyone is so nice at meets and what not but they're stupid on the forums. I'm not complaining about them poking fun in saying it's simply a waste if time and isn't needed. And I agree the cage is probably the stupidest mod on my car buttttt oh well. Because show car lol. My wing is silly too but yeah...because showcar

@eric I'm just too lazy to do it...I really don't have any interest in doing so. Jamison is gonna do it for a payment tho so I'm cool with that. Thanks tho! You should forsure come throw for beer tho lol

Pretty sure if you think a bolt in cage does zero for rigidity you gotta be high on the crack cocaine. I wouldn't have one just cause I don't want to hit my head on it fly my dog into it, I'm all about keeping the car usable for a full load even though I rarely ever drive it.

The reality is unless you have the money to DONATE your car to being a race car, and writing off selling it you can't really do a weld in cage.

Opinions and off based comments are very easy to make from behind a keyboard. It's best to just ignore the idiotic comments and move on to the important ones. Easier said that done, but as you get older, it gets easier. I got into a lot of **** when I was younger on a different forum. But I'd also tell that person to their face and had to a couple times when they confronted me. Usually when they saw I didn't back down, I earned their respect and the situation was squashed.

LOLZ! Do the crazy face... DO THE CRAZY FACE!

Seriously though. I've had a few people threaten me and then I show up and they hide. I'm not even that big. WTF.

Seriously though. For me... I love a little **** talking. All depends on who it's coming from and where it's coming from.

Look at me and Daniel. We've talked MAD heat at each other and I'd take my shirt off and hand it too him in a second... be a bit short for him... and baggy ... but I'd do it.

I don't know, I mean, if he tied it in a knot and was wearing some sweat shorts or something, could pull off the 80's thing.

What?
