Who is buying all these playstation 2s?
My neighbor works for Playstation. This past holiday season there was a mix-up, delay or something to that effect with one of the internal components of the new PS2. One of the factories in Japan didn't manufacture enough of the internals, meaning not enough of the new PS2s were available for sale in the US. That was back before Christmas though...I guess Playstation is still trying to get back up to speed.

Actually, I called Costco and they have some bundles. I'll get a couple games and stuff that I can sell on eBay or something. Now I just need to convince a friend with a costco membership to go shopping with me.

Wouldnt the older PS2's be better since the new ones dont have HD's? Seeing how you could mod the PS2's w/HD's (like xbox) you cant do that with the new Slim PS2's, which to me would be better to do. At least from what I remember since I stopped playing console games.
My friend broke his PS2 last week and just called up sony and they told him to send in his PS2. He's suppose to be getting it back 7-10 days after they received it. They're doing it free. If you cant, i'd say call up Fry's early in the morning and see if they have it and if they dont have it ask them to check all the bay area stores on which store does have it and if one does have it to transfer it to that store.

yeah... sony didn't produce enough internals to meet demands, so it's not only the states that's seeing a shortage on ps2's... as what was previously stated.. as for gt4 on old machines... it works fine on mine 
been playing it already.. only down side.. it's in japanese ... doh.. still fun tho and temporarily satisfies my need for speed..
