He Gave me the riot act about how fast i was going and how its unsafe and so on (i let him say his piece even tho i knew he was full of crap) It was and still is funny how the officer changed his attitude once my EX identified herself. My license was handed back to me and we were told to have a nice night, NO ticket nothing.

Being pulled over in Milpitas for exhaust or any type of vehicle mod and being let go with out a ticket is damn near a miracle. Count your lucky stars go buy a lotto ticket and chock that one up as WINNING!!

Word. Should see the way they respond to my brother in law when he hands them his business card instead of his license. He's a LEO. He actually got nailed the other day. Didn't give him a ticket but he made a notation on his file so if he gets pulled over again and someone sees it he'll probably get a ticket. Probably more embarrassing for him than just getting the ticket.

I got pulled over in fremont one time and the officer was so mad and yelling at me so much he was spitting on me. The dude illegally merged in to me and I had to drive on the center divide to keep him from hitting me. He blamed it on me and I got a failure to merge or some ****. My first ticket ever. I should have fought it but my parents told me just to go to traffic school. I always thought the car that had a 2 car lead when the lanes started to merge had the right away. Guess it's o.k. to smash pass someone and force them off the road.

I got so pissed i nearly punched the dude in the face. I am very fortunate I had a girl with me who saw my veins popping and literally grabbed my forearm.

Was a different guy back then.

I NEVER ran the light. I was sitting at the light. It turned green. I drove away. I later proved that it takes longer to get through that intersection than the yellow light lasts. So it is possible to leave on a green and have it read before you're totally out of the intersection. I won. No tickets.

Dude swore I was on meth. Had two cop cars. Dented my glove box. Left crap all over my car. Said I was nervous because I was shivering and moving so much. Was friggin COLD. It was after midnight in like February. Jackasses.
got pulled over TWICE midnight on new years in my brothers clk430 (dark *** tints rolling around san leandro at night)

first cop did dui test, and asked why i was shivering...it was like 50 degrees so it was fckin cold... im wearing shorts and t shirt i said that to him and he was sayin he wanted to pull my blood sample, but his partner convinced him otherwise

two miles down the road get pulled over again by another chp and the same thing happened again...like why dont they get that people shiver when cold? haha i didnt have a fancy uniform and jackets like they did

Yeah, pretty much.

I've denied a cop, had to wait like 45mins for another officer to show up and then he made me pop my hood. I had a catback Borla Hush, which wasn't even loud. Once they opened my hood and saw nothing was illegal, they still wrote me a ticket for my muffler! If you've heard a Borla Hush, you know how quite it is.

Your best bet is to be as polite and courteous. The cop doesn't want to be there and if you're nice, respectful, and cooperate you have a much better chance of driving off without a ticket than you do by being a smart *** or stubborn.

The hush should pass the decible test. Why not get a ref to give you a sheet that says its under the legal limit. Its like 20$

Its like having carb legal mods and a book with all of your c.a.r.b. stickers and what the carb numbers are for. You still will get a ticket and have to go to court and waste time and money and in the end have it dismissed.. Ask me how i know....

ive had CHP pull me over 3 times(prior to my plates being blocked)
under my hood looks remotely stock. ive had all three ask me to start my car and rev it up. i explained im not obligated to cause undo stress to my car but he could gladly listen for me to pull away. normally by this point my DL has come back to my job and they tell me to have a nice day.

Without warrant.
The officer could not say without reasonable doubt that it was his car that was loud. Hence why he was let go so quickly.

The police are looking for probable cause and unless your car is 100% stock, you're parked and not in your car, then they will search your ish.
If it goes to court, it's your word against the officers and guess who always wins in the eyes of the judge? The police.
So in short, you're screwed no matter what. The only thing you can do is be smart like Manny was.
I find it funny for a gun owner like yourself to reach over and grab your ankles when you get pulled over. I feel kind of sorry for you on that level.

they can/will just have your car towed to a lot for further inspection.
do you think they are going to just say, "ohh, okay, well you can go then" hahahah
you give them a hard time, they can and probably will make your life hell.
That right there is what they want you to think. So they win.

If anyone went that far with me. I'd be in court ASAP. I would love to turn this scare / profile crap into case law making it illegal for them to even smile at my fart can muffler.

Its only going to take one person to turn this crap into case law thru the use of the court system. Then their scare crap is over.

Have all your paperwork in one spot anytime you leave the house.
Pulled over, pull off as quickly and safe as you can.
Crack your windows,
turn car off, key on dash, hands on steering wheel.
Say Good afternoon, Why did you stop me today officer?
---- Do not fall for they questions designed to get you
If they ask you to step out. close the door and lock the car putting keys in your pockets. Ask them why they have detained you. And ask if you are under arest.
They can not search your car at that point. Only can stick their head in a down window, If they smell or see anything, But be locking your car and having the windows cracked, You take their key tools away from them. Talking to them is the other key tool they have. There are times to just close your mouths. Police man that just pulled you over is not your friend.

After the officer ran out of breath saying everything my friends brother pulled out his badge and said are you sure you know what your talking about? The officer handed my friend back his License, reg and insurance, said have a nice day and walked away. They both said the look on his face was priceless and they wish they would have gotten that recorded.
Been there done that. They do feel stupid walking away. One time I waited till I was in court fighting the traffic ticket before I handed the judge my ID card. Mr police man wasnt to happy. You would have thought it would have poped up when he ran my lic plate. Later found out he didnt and was on the fishing trip. I got caught in his net.

Also the castle doctrine says you can protect your private property, your vehicle is an extension of your private property as a private citizen you own it thus making it 'private property'.
Lots of good info :-)

Only reason this is a valid claim is because they have to ASK you to open you hood. You have the choice to deny that. If its not in sight of the naked eye you're fine, unless they possibly state, it smells like fuel. Goes in line with you opening the window and it wreak of weed, gives them enough suspicion. Going back to search anything that's not in the scope of the original suspicion, THEY CANNOT. Just because your engine is modded doesn't mean they can assume you're a drug dealer and call for a full car search.. At that point call superiors and deal with them with a lawyer. LEO's do not have every right over you.
Oh and after some research this is no CVC for vehicle search, which can be at LEO discretion if I'm correct so you can deny nothing can force you.
Keep the windows up and the doors locked. Turn down any request to search, keep quiet. Be polite and DO not act like a SMART ***.

Do you ever wonder why the officer that is pulling you over asks you why he did? self ________ !!

Dont fall for the I'm your buddy act, You hey I have the same car crap.

There better be some big grounds for his to move forward on his point. Least if you are 100% legal. I always keep my cell phone dialed to my VM when being pulled over. Records the whole stop. Also a good lawyer can get dash cam video as well. As long as you keep your cool you are golden. If you tune Oscar Grant well you are on your own.
