wheres kanye at?
I heard Taylor sucked during her performance... yea Beyonce should have won and everyone at work was wonderin' where Kanye was at (not invited) to slap the crap out of her.
She's all produced and made... she's like Britney... all pop, no voice.
Hell, Kanye's little thing on MTV is the reason why her album sold even more than ever! She should be thanking him for that one

Jay-Z is one of the best (if not the best) rappers of all time. There are SO many factors that go into the recording process to make it sound 150% perfect that its ridiculous, so obviously a live performance isnt going to sound as good as a track off of an album. Also, your definition of what sounds "good" comes into question here. Stick to Taylor Swift
If theres one thing in life that I know its hip hop. What would you like to know?

see above statement and apply it to jay-z too. If anyone on this board had any clue how the recording industry really is, you would all agree with joltdude and myself.
go listen to his old records and compare to bp3. he sounds like **** nowadays

im not saying the songs are bad, im just saying you can tell Jay-z is falling off his game, and his ego is getting in the way of good production...
if you want a perfect example, empire state of mind... 2nd verse "i made the yankee hat more famous then a yankee can"
he is clearly out of breath at the end of the line, then punched in on the the next one. he sounds out of breath. I caught that on first listen, and its bugged me every time. thats just pure lazyness, and ego. 2 things that people should never bring into a studio.
BTW, taylor swift ain't that great either....
one thing is for sure, people need to realize hip hop isn't the only music out there.
edit: people like what they like, i don't care what you like or I like, one persons pleasure is another's torture, but bad is bad, and this year NONE of the grammy nominees had shown me anything that was worthy of what a grammy should stand for.

not to mention the TOTAL lip sync in the bridge of the song, along with 2 doubled backups of her.

I'm glad Mos Def's "Ecstatic" got nominated and so did his single, "Casa Bey". Long overdue for him. "True Magic" was freakin' garbage and he was just trying to get out of Geffen Records. I'm not gonna agree with Eminem's "Relapse" getting the nod though. He's got what....2-3 hot tracks on that album? I'm sorry, last I knew, a Grammy winning album shouldn't have me hitting the skip button that often.

When Hov started, he was hungry. Then he got crowned King of NY and everyone crowning him the best ever. He now waltzes through every track and I haven't heard a hot line, bar, or verse from him in a long time. Even T.I. murdered "Swagger Like Us" a year and a half ago, making me forget Jay-Z was even on that song. When rappers get more credit than they deserve for being pop icons, they stop making every track like it's their last. I don't like emcees proving they're the best just only by showing up. I like Hov, I'm just so-so on the dude nowadays. Oh yea, his flow didn't start changing to that breathy, relaxed style until Young Gunz (specifically Young Chris) joined Roc-A-Fella. Coincidence much? That's only a speculated rumor based on the chronology of them getting signed and when Hov changed his flow though.

Hey man, just talking to you over the years about music from time to time helped me open my eyes to what's really behind the scenes and how some people work. It got me thinking a bit more than just the music since then. I stopped being such a fanboy and just listen to stuff as it is. Hell, I even think not all of Dr. Dre's beats are the best on some days. The beats he did for "Relapse" were okay with "Crack A Bottle" being one of the better ones (and probably deserving the win, I mean, what else was out there that didn't have T-Pain on the hook?).
