Where is the love?
So what's wrong with old men who drive WRX's? Today I spotted a white STI in my rear view while driving down Naglee in S.J. so I slowed a little to see who was driving it, (I thought it was a friend) when I noticed it was an old guy (with grey hair) I still looked over to nod in acknowledgement but the guy kept looking straight ahead and kept going. After that I noticed he had a debadged wingless trunk. Appearantly he's trying to keep it in stealth mode, even from the rest of the Suby fanatics. Yeah I know it may not have even been his car as it could have belonged to his son or someone else but I've experienced this on numerous ocasions with just about every old dude that drives WRX's.
Not to get my panties in a bunch or anything, and I know the friendly suby wave may be overated, but c'mon old guys. So I say to these old farts,
and stop being so stuffy and completey oblivious to the Suby community. It's not like your driving a Porsche where the drivers usually zoom past everyone else like their ride is king (even tho it is). We're cool people that enjoy this fine machine called the WRX and we all have this in common. You geezers are obviously Subaru enthusiasts like us so why don't you pull whatever crawled up your a$$ out and at least look over.
Sorry for the long rant and evil tone but, where is the love old dudes?

dude, who cares if they don't acknowledge you back. its just a car and everyone that buys a wrx isn't going to be an enthusiast. people do buy these cars based on the fact that they are good cars and a lot of fun to drive. the average person out there could care less if someone else has the same car. so don't get all upset when someone doesn't wave back or something. there is nothing stated that when you buy a wrx you have to wave/acknowledge other subaru drivers on the road. its cool when you come across people that do, but if they don't who cares

I'd say less than half of all Imprezas on the road wave anymore, even modified ones. It's become to common that I don't give an isht anymore

Thanks for the enlightenment...honestly.....sounds like you're familiar with this. I can understand wanting a quality vehicle and if you bought an Outback that's a good car but when you buy a WRX let alone an STI (like that guy) that's enthusiast. And this has not been based on only one experience, as stated it has been numerous. I was merely making a correlation among old WRX drivers and waving vs. younger WRX drivers and waving. I'm sure that if you all, well most of you, saw me at a stoplight there would be some sort of comraderie there. Visa vi the whole I-Club experience, thus explaining why your reading this now (aight Matrix)
. So maybe we should chase those old farts down and either force them to join us or sell their cars. Whatdaya say?

you are making the assumption again that only car enthusiasts by a wrx, particularily a sti. what i said before is still true. i have seen plenty of wrx and sti owners that don't wave young and old and plenty that do wave, young and old. some people care others don't, actually out of the last 5 wrx and sti's i have seen on the road only one waved and it was an old guy in a sti, the rest were younger guys.
and that comment about forcing them to join or sell there cars is just stupid. everyone out there doesnt enjoy nor cares about hanging out on the internet talking to people, they are too busy out driving there subaru

and the other old guys. And if hanging out on the internet and talking to people takes away from driving your suby then get outta my thread! If you agree that you were a little harsh and extremely literal regarding this subject then cheers to you.

Im tired of people complaining that someone didnt wave. To be honest, most people that have modded cars wave back, but then there are the people that buy a wrx or an STi because of what they have read in car magazines and like the car for its perfomance atributes. These people are sometimes completley oblivious to the fact that there is a subaru community in existance and just drive the car because they like it. if you wave at these people the first thing that goes through their head is usually "why the hell is he/she waving at me" rather than hey, he/she has the same car as i do. if you wave and they wave back, great!!! if they dont that doesnt make them an old fart or anything like that.
