You can get the gallon jugs of Mobil 1 at walmart for under twenty bucks and it's about the exact amount you need with a new filter.

Gallon of Oil $20
OEM filter $ 7ish
a half hour of your time +$free
------------
$27.00

Dude, once you learn how to change your oil once, you'll never have to take it to some place to get it done. By far I'm no wrench monkey nor do I do most of my own work on my car, but I'm confident enough to change my own oil. So if I can do it, I'm sure it'll be a piece of cake for you. If your car isn't lowered, you can just crawl under there and "git r dun". The oil drain plug and filter is at a very convenient spot. Unless you really don't have room to do any sort of work on your car where you live (nor the time), that's understandable. =)

I'm sure you mean 5 quart (Gallon is 4 quart and subies require 4.8 quarts) Also, where do you buy your OEM filters because you're gettin ripped off. Pep boys have sales all the time for Purolators (the same makers of our OEM brands) and occasionally they have rebates which make them $.01.

Stop getting ripped off by the stealerships

Ive had my wrx for 2 years and never once removed the bottom cover for an oil change. It would probably make it easier to remove the filter...meh, I got long arms

Werd. If we didn't have that silly skid plate/splash guard, it would be a 15 minute job

is it possible to cut out the plastic on the oil drain plug side for MY06? so dont have to remove the whole thing? I have seen ppl doing that for MY02-03, just not sure if i can do it with my 06.

I take mine to Walmart! lol.....seriously. Meh. Its cheap. I just always have to double check it, and I watch them do it.

When I am up at the parents house, I change my own oil, but down here in Davis, I live in an apartment, and I don't have any place to do it here. I would prefer to do it myself, but what can ya do?

Walmart do oil change as well ? Can u actually watch them do it ? wonder how much they charge. if its reasonable i might think about it. Coz i been to Jiffy lube twice and they charged about 40 bucks each time and didn't get the job done right...
