Where to get tires powder coated? Recommendations?
Hello!
Where does one normally get wheels powder coated?
Stock wrx 2002 wheels. 16 x 6.5
I think I want a darker version of gold. Bronze.
Also looking in the Bay Area.....
Thanks,
- Ulysses
p.s. Someone already mentioned go look in the yellow book
While that is nice to know, I would rather go by what people say here on the message board than to randomly picking a shop to change the color of the wheels.....
Everyone here on i-club seems to have a better feel for doing these kinds of things to car. I rather trust their experience than the yellow pages. Plus they could tell me if it a good deal or not ^_^

Why would you want to powder coat your tires? It might screw up your traction. Look at the title!
I always wondered why nobody ever considered sandblasting, then anodizing your wheels. I think that method would be right on. Powder Coat likes to chip.
anodizing the wheels "better" than powder coating them? What do you mean by "anodizing" them?
Whats the difference between "powder coating" vs. "anodizing"?
Whats the pros vs. the cons between the two?
Hows the price comparison?
Where do I go for "sand blasting" then "anodizing"?

Powder Coat likes to chip.
Biggest mistake made however by a powdercoat shop is to lay it on TOO thick....in which case it can chip more easily.
As for where to get it done : I've had excellent luck with wheels (and other stuff) at Component Finishing on Aldo Ave in Santa Clara (near SJC airport). In fact, just got back some wheels for the SS from there the other day (polished aluminum : had them CLEAR powdercoated so I could keep 95% of the "bling" look without the PITA of having to constantly repolish them).

Umm when you go to the shop, do you drive your car there, have
them remove the tire, paint the wheel, put back on the tire, then drive off
or
bring the wheels without any tires mounted on them and have them paint it?
Because... Im gonna have a problem, if I go to a shop like that if
the car im bringing is my subaru...
