Anybody know where I can find some Thermo Tec high temp (2000F) spray paint stuff in the south bay area? I checked Kragen's and no dice. Thanks!

does this just color the surface or act like a header wrap?

 

I think he's talking about the silicone based spray. The stuff you'd coat header wrap in.

 

silicone or ceramic? i just coated my down pipe in 1500 degree flat black ceramic spray paint

 

It's a silicone based spray that you shoot on your header wrap. It keeps the header wrap intact and aslo prevents it form absorbing fluids.

I never understood the point of coating the DP

 

its liquid heatshield...so the heat stays in the downpipe and not in my IC..so far its working

 

ic ic. I guess for subies it makes sense

 

yah, my IC used to get pretty hot, almost "burn" hot when driving aggressively or when in stop and go traffic for extended periods of time.. now its just "warm" to the touch , im going to hit it with a couple more layers in a few weeks

 

where'd ya find it locally?
