if you're in the san ramon area, go to the city offices there. there were no lines and it was quick. also, go to the passport website (u.s. gov) , and they should have a list of offices where you can go and everything you'll need to bring. sure beats waiting in long lines in some places; or even worse, the main passport office in sf.

She'll need a passport photo first. It's like $10 and you can get it at any unofficial establishment like mail boxes etc. It's roughly $100 for everything including the standard delivery time of 1month.

What he said! ^^

You can pay more for expedited at the post office (I think it's 2 weeks versus like 2 months), but if you need it even faster there are agencies that can do it overnight.

Trust me...my kid sister had her passport stolen in Mexico...wouldn't let her on a plane...big fiasco.

like most people said, first go to the post office and get the form. then you'll need to call for an appointment there (they'll tell you what you need, ie. photo requirement, valid form of ID, etc...)

more info? visit: travel.state.gov
