Where do you buy an engine stand?

I need an engine stand to build a Chevy V8 in my garage.

I called sears..and the noobs there said they don't carry them. . . . ??

Craigslist has slim pickens.

Any suggestions?

Thanx guys.

many of my friends have used the 3 prong harbor freight one only to have their engines tip and fall. IMO an engine stand along with jackstands is something you should NOT skimp on. Buy the nicest quality one you can!

Thanx for the input guys. I was worried about buying a cheap one for safety reasons.

Kragen/pep-boys worried me.

Winchester Auto! I forgot about them! Good idea.

I bought one at harbor freight and have had NO problems with it. I've had my motor hanging on it for well over a year now. And I GUARANTEE you my motor is heavier than yours.

Before I bought mine I searched Craigslist like crazy. You can get some pretty nice ones on CL pretty much any day. Most people that buy them use them once.

Ya everyone I know has the harbour freight stand. Many of them have had engines on them for long periods of time over the course of 10+ years. I have 2 and they work great. Hell, the kragen/etc autoparts store stand is probably the same damned thing, repainted and relabeled for their store.
