Question Where did you buy your digital rebel?

My girlfriend is ready to drop the cash on one of these camera, we found a couple places online that has the body for like $375 or $450, but the sites say nothing about where they are located, and they fail to mention(we researched reviews) that they are selling none-US models.

So my question is where in the bay area or what online retailer have you people gone through for a more expensive item like the canon digital rebel or 10D?

hey matt...I have ordered from b&h, digital foto and adorama in the past and all of them are well known for great service. Their prices are higher than what you were talking about though. You should stay away from gray market (non-us spec) camera equipment. You won't get a USA warranty and it will most likely be refurbished. You can try www.photo.net to find a review of almost every online photo supplier. good luck...Dave.

If you are looking for a local retailer that you can walk into and pick up the camera at, try San Jose Camera at the corner of Hamilton and Winchester. They have pretty good prices and have most items in stock. They have been around for a while and have a pretty good reputation. I bought my Canon E7 setup from them a few years ago.

I bought my 20D from Amazon. They had the best price and it was in stock. I've had great experiences with B&H, too. For local stores I recommend Bear Images (http://www.bearimages.com) in Palo Alto, really nice folks.

I got mine from sears and then sold it and got 20d from b&h. btw there's brand shining new 350D which is about 900/1k for body/kit(check dpreview.com for preview/other info).

If money is not an issue i'd recommend to go with 350D.

as for buying use resellerratings.com to check online shop ratings and reviews, i.d check b&h, canoga camera, adorama, j&r, onecall, bigdig.

EDIT : of course DELL, check techbargains.com and similar for current deals
and don't forget about taxes if you buy from CA shop.

if you try to buy inexpensive used one try craigslist/ebay, because you can check camera in person. check camera is still on canon warranty and if extended warranty is available and transferable(i.e. mack's warranty).

I recommended the 350D to her, she is very tempted to get that camera too.

Its looking like B & H is the best bet since they are out of state and have a decent package deal with the standard EF 18-55 lense:

These guys are elitist, racist d!cks. I will never shop there again and try to steer everyone clear of them.

What happened? I haven't been there for a couple of years. They were okay when I went there back then. Please share your experience.

This was a while back, when I was in college, but bad enough that I will never give them another penny even if I was desparate for something only they had. I always had trouble getting help at this place before this incident, but anyway.

I went in looking for a new camera and needed some suppplies for a class that I was taking as well. It took 30 minutes to get help and the place was basically empty.

The guy was talking to a white guy and I overheard some racist comment and saw him motion towards me. I got the supplies that I needed and wanted to check out the cameras. The guy looked me up and down and said, "Are you going to buy it? If you're not going to buy it, I not going to let you touch it. I'm sick of wasting my time on people like you."

By that point the only people in there were me and him, so he knew that he wouldn't get in trouble.

I was like, "Are you ****ing serious?" He just stared right back at me, so I threw the things I had back over the counter and walked out. I hope he died in a fire.

Sorry to hear about your experience. After hearing that, I can imagine those guys being like that. In support of your boycott, I will stop going there also. Heck, I have not gone to Albertsons for more than 3 years because of something that happened at their Sunnyvale location. Just my luck though, the nearest camera store and grocery store to me are San Jose Camera and Albertsons, respectively. However, I am willing to drive a little farther in support of principles.

My girlfriend went there when she was looking for a Pentax camera and they treated her aweful, and like she was stupid. Needless to say she didn't spend a dime there.
She also said that they would not pay attention to any of the females in the store, only the males. She even said one was a MILF and still none of the guys working there would talk to her. =\

wait! you pointed to 300D
350D is :
silver http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...=371194&is=REG

black http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...=371191&is=REG

difference from 300d kit is about 180$. i don't see sense in buying brand new 300d at this moment it's value is(will be) dropping. you could probably stop by local shop to check both cameras in person and see what's good for you.
