I need to get some raw materials like aluminum plates (maybe 1ftx1ft) and steel rods (1ft long)....etc for my class project.

Anybody know where I can get some near SF?

I have used a place called Alan Steel and Supply in Redwood City, 650-369-2526.

 

Home depot.

 

I think Orchard supply has sheets, I dunno about steel rods.

Oh crap, some rods would work great for a project I have to work on too... work great for an axle.

i posted this after i went to homedepot.....they only have wood

You can check out Albany Steel. I'm not sure if they have aluminum though.

Blue Collar Supply...super cheap...in sacramento though

 

try calling a machine shop....tell them what you are looking for, and that you only need the raw materials for a project...they MAY even have some stuff you can use in their scrap metal bins, and they might even give it to you free of charge, since it is "scrap". If the dont have any, alot of places will order it for you, and you can pick it up when it is in.
