Craftsman, no question.

Break something, walk into any Sears and walk out with a brand new tool...FOR LIFE. Stanley is crap they sell at Costco.

I'd recommended any of the craftsman stuff. I've used wrenches at kragen and autozone. They bend and flex. Craftman's is good stuff.

For basic tools, Id recommend:

- Metric Sockets (Craftsman) (for those subaru bolts)
- Torque Wrench (Craftsman) (for all your torque specing needs)
- Impact Drill (For those impossible bolts to remove)
(Electric Craftsman 250 lb-ft I find good enough)
- Impact Drill sockets (Craftsman)
- Screw driver / Screw Driver Bits
- Rubber Mallet (with sand inside) (Craftsman)
(for those hammer pouding needs without denting)
- Electric Screwdriver (for those lazy ppl like me )
- Adjustable Flexible rubber gip wrench (For removing the oil filter easily)

Hope that helps. Getting quality stuff really does help when you work on a car.
Its like comparing a pinto vs. subaru
