Im sure most people that like gold/bronze wheels like them for reason(s) they can't explain. I can't put my thumb on it but there's somthing about the impreza and other cars (ie black skyline etc) that looks damn SEXAY in gold colored wheels.
It's just one of those things i can't explain. i believe a white, black or WRB impreza looks awesome with gold wheels. for some reason the RS, WRX, STi body compliments the color very well. WRB w/gold looks "rally", black and white imprezas with gold wheels looks VERY CLASSY IMHO.
I would never ever attemp gold wheels on almost 99% of other cars on the market today.

i used to not like gold rims... then i bought a set used... and they were gold... and now i like 'em
but, my first set of wheels were steel grey (and i still have 'em)
i think gold looks nice if it's clean.. and it also depends on the shade of gold...
