Rooting is a lot different than Jailbreaking. All rooting is is getting administrative privileges. If you don't like 2.3.3... you can always back-date to Froyo.

It looks completely different. It works completely different. They moved and modified things than worked just fine. Added a bunch of unneeded B.S. Phone runs slower. Battery dies faster. texting is chunkier. The put stupid words to replace anything apple related. like iPhone translates to phonies.... etc.

Seriously turned a phone that I liked more than the iPhone into a complete an utter POS. I hate using it now. I pretty much go to 3 websites with it not and check 2 email address. Rarely text. Don't like the Facebook interaction but that's facebook's fault.

If the iPhone 5 is a little closer in size to the droid x I'll be all over it. I love the size of the X. It's a bit wider and nice and thin.
xda forums. Google 'frankenclean 2.8' and install that ****, the version for the droid x mind you. I get about 1.5days of constant use out of my phone with that update, and it overclocks your cpu by a little bit. Everything is STUPID FAST. Like :twidlingthumbs: to

You guys\gals seriously need to root then install a custom rom. I recommend Supercleans stuff, it is basically a bare bones phone, only downside to me is they remove the stock clock\alarm app . Oh and google voice is a pita to get running for some reason...

Yeah I used to be able to go pretty much all day with no charge. Just hook it up at night if I'm sitting there surfing. Now it's usually dead while I'm still at work if I don't have it plugged in charging.... and it sits most of the day. If I'm using it it's canned in like 2-3 hours.

I know the phone which you speak. And its the 'tough' 'smartphone' that I have been waiting for, but didn't come before I dropped 600$ on my fascinate.

You are describing exactly what I have going on. Some times when I restart it will be OK like before. Then most of the times it craps out with crappy battery life.
