If you like Italian food, there is a great place in santa clara, not far from great america called "Nicolinos", The own3rs are good friends of my family....Real classy place....they even have italian opera shows on some nights....great place to take a lady to impress her! The also have a great wine selection.

Alioto's Restaurant
No. 8 Fisherman's Wharf
San Francisco, Ca

My favorite place for seafood. I love the fillet of sole sandwich. I actually take my wife there. Prices are really good, and the fish...well, I have put in my opinion.

Cheese Cake Factory

At Valley Fair. I had the Jamaican shrimp on my wife's birthday last month. It was exellent. Pricey though.

2 peeps was $80 (Including desert and tip). Not the most expensive, but pricey none the less.

You want to know another btchn' Italian restaraunt? Bucca De Beppo. I heard there was one in San Jo. Oh man that place rocks. It is alot of fun too.

I have only been to the one on Howe in Sactown, but it was great. You have to try the garlic bread, and the seafood pasta. If you can't tell already, I love seafood!

On another Italian note, The Spagetti Factory in downtown San Jose is a nice and VERY inexpensive place to take someone dear to the heart.

The food is consistantly good, and the atmosphere is very much that of an upscale date.

I love the managers special with the super size and Marinara sauce on one side and Mizithra/butter on the other...man, I am making myself very hungry!

This thread has come back from the dead! As long as we're here:

Where can I get a decent steak around here? (Bonus points if "here" is close to Fremont.) As far as I can tell, no one in California knows what to do with a steak. I only made this discovery upon moving into an apartment that doesn't allow charcoal grills. (Makes the living room too smokey I guess.)

Places close to me:
Union Landing Texas Road House: a waste of good meat.
Black Angus: ok but not great
Hungry Hunter: a little better.
Outback: the best I've found so far, on the upper end of ok, mostly because they seem to use pretty good cuts.

You don't know how sad it is that Outback is the best steak place I've found so far. When I lived near Chicago, Outback was sort of like the "fast food" steak place to me, so this is like moving somewhere where McDonalds is the best hamburger place.

Oh man, you live in Fremont! You have to go to Cattlemens off of Ardenwood and 84. Best damn steak for miles. There are 5 of 6 of them total throughout the Bay and Fresno and Sac.

Great food!

It is my favorite!

yea i like cattlemens alot also. I've only had it once while going up to tahoe. You could probably split a meal with solmeone because they give you a ton of food. If your gf/wife isn't into meat all that much then dont take her to cattlemens. It's like all steak and when i was there with my family my sister hated it.

Mudds in San Ramon

Chow in Lafayette

both serve really clean, good food. Chow is fairly cheap, and all-organic as well.
