I got my wrx when I was 20, had an accident and two speeding tickets on my record and insurance still wasn't that high for me. I got Progressive w/ full coverage for $3000 a yr and for the last 2 yrs it's been half that. Def recommend shopping around.

Have it insured under your parents name while you get insured in a less high performance vehicle that your family owns.
Under Allstate, if you have you license for more than 3 years under insurance without any accidents then your rates would begin to drop.
Is it your daily driver? how many miles do you think you'll put on it? Does it have alarms and security system? Simple discount questions other than the "what is you grade point average at school"

i think im going to switch to progressive but im going to keep shopping around.

i got into an accident last year in my gti but i got rear ended and it was a hit and run with a police report and the police caught the people so i was completely not at fault with that. and 2 years before i got my civic stolen? but still it wasn't my fault? i ono.

yea its my daily driver. i think i put less than 8,000 miles on it a year. it has an alarm system.

$4,000 a year? That is insanity.

4000/yr @$% no! I'm only paying $75/month for my rex. Are you trying to establish insurance of your own?
If I were you I would put myself still included under your family/multiple cars insurance coverage at least until I graduate and make decent money. Have most old, inexpensive, non-sporty car reflect as your primary car and have your mom as primary driver for wrx. That should put your payment way down. If that agent don't let your family do that and demand 4000/yr, your family really need to look some other place - because that agent is not on your family side! By the way, your agent suck! ^^^that's exactly what I did when I was in college. And don't sell your rex, sounds like you are almost done with your school anyway.

seems like living in hayward is screwing me up a bit. cause i changed the location to san jose and the rates were lower by about 1.5k
When I was 21 I had a 98 240sx. Farmers quoted me $5k/yr.

Go elsewhere. I went, at the time, with 21st century, who had very good rates and service (then they got super big and service went downhill, maybe better now). Check with Geico maybe?

Don't go with Progressive - they're the devil. They've ****ed some of my good friends, and my wife worked there for a time. You don't want their "coverage".

Damn, I thought I had it bad at $280/month for my WRX with 1 speeding Ticket, and a previous accident in my previous car (3000gt) which will be taken off beginning of 09.

I'm using State-Farm and I feel I'm paying too much as well. Even under my parents insurance, multiple cars, and having my mother as the primary I was paying over $300 but raised my deductible to 500 and lowered the health coverage since I have full health benefits by working for Kaiser Permanente Medical Hospitals.

I need cheaper insurance =(

If any of your families have a Costco membership, try Costco's auto insurance program. It was cheaper for me than Progressive and GEICO. https://www14.ameriprise.com/AutoQuo...O&RefID=11m-c3

State Farm. $840/year. Full Coverage. 2006 WRX. But I am old at 28 years.

Plus I have multi-car and other insurance through them.

If you parents have house insurance through an insurance company , along with their cars. Just set the address of your policy at their address and you should get hooked up with all their discounts. (thats how State Farm does it).

I dont have a clean record, I have a more powerful car and I pay considerably less with State Farm.
