So right now im on my parent's insurance policy and our insurance lady said it will be ~$4000 a year for me to insure the wrx because its a "high performance vehicle" and i won't get my good student discount for it.
she quoted me a different price way lower earlier. including a bunch of discounts. now i'm thinking of a couple ways to go about this...
shop around car insurance companies + increase deductible + have my mom be the primary driver of the car
or sell the wrx and get something cheaper to insure. i love this car. i love turbo. but i'm not sure how practical it is for me to own it right now.
i'm 20 years old. full time college student. part time at sears making $11-13 an hour. I should be working full time on an ambulance company within the next few months.
gc8 maybe?

4k?? Does your parents have another car you can be "primary" driver of? To save money, my parents put me on their '94 civic, but I drive my WRX daily. Farmers sucks, but my step dad has it, so I'm on it. They tried to charge us more for the "premium" insurance which they use OEM parts, but they should if you insist on the regular plan anyway. Since Farmers is stupid, I had my parents tell them to insure all my aftermarket parts, and Farmers insisted on them already being covered (since they think it's some cheap knockoff, not performance aftermarket) :RockOn - not mine:
The loss you'd take of selling the WRX and then buying another sports car later (if you choose to do so) is going to be pretty big. Plus, with the way the market is right now, you'd be selling cheaper than you wanted, and most likely end up in a ricer's hands and I'd never want to do that to my WRX.
Like everyone else says, shop around, find much cheaper rates, and stick it out for a few more months until the new job.
