Unhappy What a way to start the day: My car was broken into!

My subie was violated!

They broke in through the drivers window and tore everything apart. There were wires hanging out the broken drivers side window. The car does not run (it may be that the battery is dead). The drivers door will not open. There was not enough light in the garage to see everything clearly.

I think this means selling the turbo, since I no can no longer afford to have it fixed. I can't even afford to pay for the insurance deductible.

What a way to start a day and what a way to end a bad year.

If anyone is interested I am going to consider selling my Vishnu RS turbo kit.

Ugh

Exclamation

Chris,

Where were you an hour ago! The shariff has already been and gone, so I can't report it stolen.

Oh well, it was a good idea.

I guess another car got broken into the same night in our complex. The cop said it usually comes in twos here.

He even dusted the car for fingerprints. As if he might find some that are useful. ha.

I hit the hazard button and found it worked, so the battery power is fine. The remote door locks don't work. And the drivers door does not unlock or open.

Maybe the car does run and I just cant get a good enough push on the clutch pedel since I am not able to get in from the drivers side and I am sure as ... not going to slide over onto the glass. I already got a minor cut from just checking to see what was actually taken.

Crap this sucks

Awww. crap. sorry Bill.

Anything else you could sell instead of the turbo to get the $ though? If the turbo must go well... yeah that just sucks the big one. Hope it works out ok.

I finally got to my insurance.

A huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. My deductable is $100! And they will not make any changes to my premium since it was something I had no control over. I thought my deductabble would be $500 (I think I should read up on my insurance coverage).

Now I just need to get the door to open so that they can come fix the window. I also need to clean up that glass everywhere. I am so glad I got the windows tinted recently. Most of the glass is stuck to the tint.

I got the door open and vacuumed up all the glass. threw away the sheets that were still attached to the tint and tried to start the car.

All the power seems to work but the car will not start. I tried to find the alarm reset button, but it seems to have gone missing. Probably up under the dash where I couldnt see it. I closed the door and now I can't open it again. Must be glass jammed in the mechanism.

Now that its all cleaned up the damage does not look as bad. Not that it looks good in any way.

What fun.

i dont know if it has anything to do with the break in, which btw really sucks, but check your starter relays/fuses. that happened to my suburban a few months ago.

I appreciate everyone’s support. Helped me vent my frustrations.

The glass company is coming out today. With the help of a tow company I was able to get the door open so the glass company will be able to work.

I still can't find the little alarm reset switch. I dug around under the dash for 15 minutes or more after the door was open. I crawled under the dash with a light and its just not there! I figure it’s the alarm that is causing the car not to start. (Stock Subaru alarm).

Well, I don't have the car back yet, but they have finished the work. They have just compiled the total cost for the repair and are sending it to the insurance co. Not including the cost to replace the window or the stereo system it came to $3200!

It’s hard to believe it has taken them so long and at such a high cost to repair a car that was broken into! I sure hope they did it right.

Can't wait to get it back.

Bill
