what tint do you get away with in cali?
hey guys, im from the 925(danville) area, and i work in 510(fremont) area, and i've heard stories from ppl about how strict the cops are because they're pretty lame and ****.
i wanted to get some tint, andi wnated to see what tint percentage you guys in the area have gotten away with. should i just risk 35% all the way around? or do 35% in rear and 50% for the fronts? do you guys think that would look stupid? any one have pics of different tint percentages?
Thanks for your help!!

I personally don't want any trouble with cops and thought about doing 50% all around.. I ended up with 35% all around and it seems to be a good choice.. here is a pic..

On my last Subie I had 35% front and 5% rear. It looked really dark during the day especially in the back, I was never hassled about it. There's tint on my RS right now but I'll have it redone sometime. I'd reccomend 35% front and 20% rear. Make sure if you ever get pulled over, roll down BOTH windows as the rears can be as dark as you please with the fronts being illegal.

how can you see at nite with 5% in the front! that is crazy. i used to have 30 all around, but now i changed the fronts to 50. i havent had any problems so far, but a cop will give you a ticket if they feel like it, so it dont really matter.

I've got 20% on the rear 5 and 35% on the front two. It looks pretty damn good and you'd have a hard time telling the difference in person as well. I've never once been pulled over for tint or no front license plate, but maybe that has to do with my driving a '93 Legacy Wagon (turbo that is
).

it definitely helps. i live in Sac where it as hot as ... something really really hot.
btw, i just did 20% on the rears. if you ever drive to places like Santa Barabra be forwarned. The cops are punks. With any tint on the front they can pull you over for that and then try to get you on other things

It does help. I leave my car in an open parking lot all day while I'm at work and when I come back it's pretty freakin hot sometimes. But before the tint it was much worse. It cuts it down a lot. Like driving....if it's sunny out and I have my window cracked say a couple inches. I can literally feal the temperature change on the light passing throught window and the light passing through the crack on my arm.
If you are not a huge fan of tinting you might consider something mellow..it will still help tramendously on heat and UV reduction. Try something like 50 up front and 35 the rest of the way around.
