What should I do about this b1tch??

Okay. I'm totally pissed off.
My friends and I rented a house and one guy had to move out. So we looked for someone else to share the house.

This b1tch came check it out and liked it. But she need to move in later than the available date. Okay, no problem we gave her the preference(NOTE: we had to share the cost of this time gap) to move in later.

The night she took the keys I thought she should pay the deposits/rent. She forgot to bring money. Alright, I didn't want to have a bad start. So I let her go.

She never moved in nor call/email me, nothing heard from her. Her rent was supposed to start last week. So I called her on Fri to find out what's going on. No one answer the phone. Left a msg.

The next day I got an email from her that basically said, "I don't think the plan's working out. Please rent the room to someone else. I'll return your keys later"

We were totally pissed. We insist we NEED to get at least this week's rent because her lease already started. She apparently refused and even accused us for threatening her and all those impoliteness etc.

Damn, it was my fault to give her the keys without getting money. I feel so sorry for my friends.

Now what can I do about her? Letting it go is just too hard for me to do. But I only have her cell phone number....and there was no paper signed at all....

This is simply outrageous. It was her that we denied many people for the room. We could have saved lots of money and time and trouble. Please give me some suggestions.

Take her to small claims court. Although I don't know if you have a leg to stand on without any sort of written contract.

And next time, not to rub it in, but get the deposit and first month up front.

I think you're screwed, next time have it all on paper & documented.

When you need a good Atty, call:

First of all, she did drop the keys in mailbox. And we did change the locks too(oh yeah, that's an extra $20 bucks caused by the b1tch)

And no, we can certainly afford the rent although we didn't have to.

It's not that we need that 1-week of rent to survive. But let me ask you, can you be completely calm if someone did this to you? We trusted her so much and gave her so much preferences and she screwed us up. Not to mention her ****ty attitude. She never even answered our phone calls.
