What happened to Toyota...?

No real news, but I'm just wondering how or why a car company that produced so many performance cars are nowhere in site. To just name a few, the MR2... Supra... Celica... Not even "future" models will be that much of a performance car. I mean... a Hybrid Supra (or more technically FT-HS)? What happened... what happened...? Yeah it's gone green, but a lot of other car companies have gone green but still maintain their performance inspired lines, ie Honda (Civic Si) and of course Subaru (WRX and STi). What do you guys think?

they realized that people will shell out the cash to get a fuel efficient and reliable vehical, this confirming this theory

1 - make corollas
2 - sell corollas
3 - ????
4 - profit

they sold out just as anyone would in any area of anything to make an extra buck. They are suposed to release a 201* ae86 type car
My moms Scion would rule if only it were RWD...80-90 mph to LA and still get 32 mpg!

Mazda has and will always, knock on wood, rule motorsports, though some of their concepts are a little too far out. Nissan is pretty true still too.

In the 90's toyotalike everyone else jumped SUV market.

Celica didn't sell for the much $$$. The last gen supra was over $50k but wasn't a status symbol. When the group Boyz II Men each received a toyota landcruiser as a gift for selling lots of of records, I sensed a change in the car world...

Supposed to be a Hybrid sports car that'll go 0-60 in less than 4 and will contain a 3.5L v6 engine with an electric motor

ya, the new supra is a hybrid..

anyways, alot of car manufactures are actually still introducing performance cars and green cars. such as Nissan(GTR) performance, and there ill car thing(versa) green. Mitsubishi(EVO and soon to come Ralliart Lancer)performance and(Lancer) green. Subaru(WRX and STI)performance and (impreza 2.5i)green. Honda(Civic Si and S2000 CR)performance and(hybrid) green.

ther are others.. just don't feel like posting them

the original scion line is awesome. My mom has an XB...power wise (1.5L) it would beat my miata (1.8L) IF the scion were RWD and had sticky tires. Otherwise my miata is slightly faster, but if the XB were RWD, i would chop the back so fast and haul my dirtbike around town all day in that thing!

XB's are pretty cool cars, besides the radio being a pain in the *** to reach for.

no, he's saying Subaru has the STi and WRX as the "performance" aspect, and the 2.5i for the "green" aspect

Ahhh, ok, because I was going to say the guy who sees me put gas in my car every other day would disagree with that statement.

it could have been green flames?
toyota is smart, after driving my mom's 06 corolla around for 5 days and not have to fill up gas and shift, made me realized how they sold so many
there will always be people buying toyotas, no matter what they make
the camry is still the #1 selling car for a reason
we've owned 4
