What does this wire attach to? Help please...

Where does this wire go? Its not my picture but I did this exact same thing when I dropped my tranny to replace my clutch. I thought I had everything disconnected but obviously I was wrong. I know its a ground but what does it connect to. I have looked on the tranny and I dont see what it could have broken off of. Help please... TIA

Pretty sure thats a transmission ground, its supposed to ground on one of those long bolts holding the case together.

LMAO! I was going to say exactly that Matt....

As for the question, yes that's a transmission ground, you like me, apparently didn't undo that bolt before dropping the tranny lol. Lemme dig up a pic.

without admitting guilt, this may or may not be the only thing holding the transmission in the car....

^ It was the only thing holding the tranny up for a quick couple seconds until I pointed out that it was weird that the tranny was levitating ghostly by it self. Damn they don't make ground wires like they used to.

So can I just crimp a new piece onto it and attach it to one of those long bolts. That's my plan but wanted to make sure there is not a reason not to...

100% good to go. You can buy ground cables for $2-$5 at the auto parts store. Might be better off tossing a new one on there. If not unbolt the other end and make sure its clean with you are there.

That same wire broke on my car, I just put a new connector on it and re-grounded.
