My family has a 9mm Browning from the Canadian army, it has a safety near the thumb position as well as another "safety" mechanism near the barrel of the gun that can be pushed left or right for "on and off."
Guns are dangerous and fun and the safety isn't so much necessary as it's another precaution in addition to a trigger lock or gun safe.

more and more seal teams are using the HK SOCOM handgun as their sidearm due to silencer capabilities...

but the SEALs can use various bunch of sidearms.
