Got bored today and figured since I drove my widebody car to work, I might as well fix the bad valve seals and worn piston rings...

Took my car to RBMS to get some bushings pressed in. Unfortunately whiteline didn't ship me the spacers for my ALK and apparently a wrong bushing ended up in w0508 package... Oh well. Either way I took my car to grizzley peak to test out the new bushings and brakes.... I am driving much faster than previously!

Its gonna take a lot more than bushings to make you drive faster. Your just plain slow...

Finished up a timing belt and other stuff

Before:
The "What did you do to your car today" Thread!-img_0439.png

My crank pulley bolt was so rusted on...

Opened up the timing cover and found a super dirty case, worn belt, and a fair amount of other stuff...
The "What did you do to your car today" Thread!-img_0475.png

Cleaned up a lot

Installed a tomei guide cover, new water pump, thermostat and gasket.

Then I tackled the valve covers:
New gaskets, ultragrey, half moons, and the grommets.

Didn't get an after picture, but I cleaned it up. Wasn't as much of a pain as everyone says it is. Just move the wire harness out of the way.

Perrin A/O Separator:

Definitely the biggest pain out of everything. (Now I gotta figure out a boost leak )

Also installed grimmspeed crank pulley and perrin radiator hoses.

After everything was installed, minding the accessory belt cover:

I just have to say that the timing belt isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was concerned with the driver's side cams, so I used the company 23 cam lock tool. Otherwise, all of this was pretty straight forward and easy. The most complicated thing I did before this was an exhaust so I think that says a lot. Just take your time and be careful. Although starting the car up again was just about the scariest thing ever.

Installed my rear deck lid w/ 3rd brake light cutout. PITA but not so bad when you've taken out your headliner or back seats before for other installs.
Had to also uninstall my amp because the mounting holes for the new brake light were right above it. No biggie just needed new rubber expansion nuts and screws had at home depot for 4 bucks.
And upside I needed to reroute the power and ground anyways.

Then bondo'd the holes left over from my wrx wing and sanded them down nicely. Can't feel anything when my hands run across it
Now on my way to home depot again for some finishing putty for the pinholes.

Red inlet got a black jacket. Heavy duty super 88 vinyl tape.

Need a small tube of black silicone sealant for the hose barbs now.
