what car to buy around 3k range?

i am moving to sacramento for school in the fall, and my parents are a little hesitant on letting me take the wrx up there. what cars would you guys reccommend for around 3k? all i have in mind right now is a honda because they are cheap and reliable, and i have yet to find a clean 240sx that hasnt been f'ed up by the previous owner.

Miatas are awesome. they last forever, get great mileage, and handle well.

street bikes are too dangerous, imho. and they get stolen a lot so not really a great vehicle to take to school.

Yeah, best gas mileage ever. Screw what your parents say. You can be a squid in no time.

If it's your time to go, then it's your time to go. Might as well enjoy it while you can. :x

if the reason for not taking the wrx out there is because of the high auto theft rates in sac, then you definately dont want a honda... get a 88 camry, ahha.. nobody will touch that
