What are affordable places to purchase a condo in or near bay area?
Looking to liquidate all my assets and gtfo from living at home. Ideally I would like to purchase property instead of rent.
I work in San Leandro but im willing to move anywhere within an hour from there. What are some good areas to look at? I would prefer south bay but right now im not going to be picky.
Thanks in advance.
...and worst case scenario.... anybody need a roommate?

I'd say Tracy/Mountain House. Or maybe Pittsburgh/Baypoint.
Question is... How much can you afford?

If you're planning to take a home loan, talk to the company you're planning to borrow from. They should be able to realistically calculate how much you can afford based on your income, credit rating, and existing loans.
I agree with SR20steve - if you can afford to plop 60k for (down payment + closing costs) AND pay 2500 per month, you should be able to afford a nice condo or small house at a decent neighborhood.
I recommend being very picky and try to see as many properties as you can. Remember, this is where you're going to live long-term (unless you plan to flip it after a short period of time).
Good luck man! My wife and I are very happy to have bought our home. I'm sure you will be happy with that decision too!

What kind of criteria do you have for the place you want to purchase?
