Looks like a Legacy GT wagon... WTF are they thinking?
They already have the platforms for this kind of thing. This concept and the BRZ "wagon" make absolutely no sense to me.
The BRZ wagon is stupid. That platform is for what it is. If you want to do a hatch do a true hatch that doesn't look like it's built for 50 year olds going golfing. The plastic 2 tone stuff is stupid. That car is WAY off the mark.
This one... WHY?
Why not just bring back the GTs?
Out back.... toss in the turbo motor and you have an outback gt.
Bring back the legacy wagons as a lower version of the outback without the plastic crap all over it. Toss in the turbo motor... legacy GT.
This car looks like it's essentially the legacy GT wagon.
There is no place in the line for something between the impreza and the outback. There's really not that much difference between them to begin with.
Want small... impreza. Want long... outback. Want tall... forester.
They're all pretty close. I have 2 of them and almost bought the outback.

If it has a manual, I will go test drive it. If it is autotragic only, never mind. I like the look better than the WRX or the BRZ-shootingbrakething
What do you mean there's not much difference between the Outback and the Impreza? The current Outback is built on the Tribeca platform and is MASSIVE now. This one looks to be a long WRX wagon to be honest.

I guess you're probably right. There is space. I was thinking more about the older platforms that were pretty much identical.
But this seems to me like it's just a legacy wagon... why not just call it a legacy wagon instead of bring a whole new name to it with no history.

Yeah they are massive. I wish we would have bought one instead of the forester some times.

It's not a Legacy wagon because it's smaller than the current Outback/Legacy. I wish we still got a Legacy GT wagon as well as I can't stand the higher stance and plastic crap on the Outback. Seriously, this looks more like a WRX wagon, both size and shape-wise.

First car that came to mind. A3 or S3

sooo many wagons..or hatches. car designers need to take a few steps away from what has already came out. Too many look a likes. then again they are only concepts.

Even the Outback isn't large enough for families these days, especially if one of the kids wants to bring a friend along. The seven seat Exiga is the Subaru vehicle that I'm clamoring for. Hopefully we'll get the next generation since the Tribeca is finally dying off.

We take me, wife, daughter, dog on trips. And my wife packs literally for 2 weeks when we're gone for 2 days.
We could easily do 2 kids and the dog in the forester with a roof container and the outbacks have way more room than the forester.
But yeah... if you're looking for a big car subaru isn't the company for you. You clearly need a suburban.

I like your jump from a Forester to a Suburban. The last time I checked, there are a number of vehicles between the two in size.
We're close to pulling the trigger on an AWD Toyota Sienna minivan, but the Exiga has been a vehicle that could keep us in something fun:

See, there is hope:
The Subaru Crossover 7 Is A Massive Improvement Over The Tribeca
Now just ditch the plasticky crap along the edges and sign me up!

Since they won't release a WRX hatch OR a LGT wagon, this IS the WRX that is in between those two so it can be picked up by either segment, something that didn't happen previously with the WRX vs LGT wagon.

Sure, we have stuffed all of us and stuff into my Corolla and gone on a trip that way. Strangely we did not really feel like better people. Just felt like we had to think a lot more about what we took, and hanging out and eating part-way through in the car was no longer an option. Feeding the baby was a little harder. I'm 6'1" so we had to move stuff around to switch drivers. So, we usually take the big car on trips just because it's so much easier to stuff baby crap and strollers in, and we can carry more than 1x passenger as well which is nice.
We hated the idea of a big SUV and I tried to talk my wife into getting an Odyssey or a Sienna. She was against it, and anything we could find that was smaller but still had enough room for a rear-facing car seat and a 6'1" person in the front seat was over $25k. This thing cost around $9k. Since that car does not go more than 6 miles each day, we don't care that it only gets 13mpg.
The thing is, we do not, by any means, need a car that big. But it's a whole lot easier to have more space when going places with two small kids and two dogs. SOOO much easier. We intend on getting something like a Legacy down the road, but that is more about being ready to spend tens of thousands of dollars for a new car versus actually needing one. Really the only downside of this massive SUV, which is way bigger than what we intended to get, is the crap we hear about owning it.
I just stuck my son's Recaro seat in there yesterday and we were laughing because every car we have put this in has been an issue. Even with the SAAB 9-5 which has a big back seat, I would still have to scoot the seat forward to be able to use this seat. I put it in there and with the driver's seat all the way back, there was around 10" of space between the Recaro and the back of the driver's seat. It's going to be hard to justify spending at least $20k more than this thing to replace it. Plus, with the way people drive these days, it's nice to know that we will be safer when, not if, some fool slams into us.
That's fine for one kid. Talk to me when you have two and they're old enough to want to bring friends places. Not to mention two car seats, etc. etc. Plus, most of my family is in town and there are tons of times when it'd be great to have a seven seat vehicle instead of taking two vehicles.

When we were shopping for a car for my wife, we went first to Subaru (Carlsen) and were looking at '06ish Outback XTs. While I was there, I was comparing the new Forester to the new Outback. I was pretty surprised how, to me anyway, the Forester, Outback and Tribeca all seemed surprisingly similar in size. Mostly I was shocked at how much bigger the Forester was. I sat in a 2012 Outback and it felt sort of cramped up front compared to the older model - most likely due to that tall center console and the new massive dash. Anyway, I will have to look it up - but I did not see a big size difference between the Forester and Outback.
Also, what you say about the number of seats would always be an issue. Car seats almost always are larger in the base than a person in the seat. Putting two side by side makes the remaining space pretty small. Putting two car seats in a Legacy means you have basically one passenger seat. Unless you feel comfortable asking your mom to cram into the space left between the seat and the door. I work with people that would not physically fit there. If I want to take my kids, and my niece and nephew anywhere, I couldn't even if there would be space because neither of them can sit in the front due to the airbag. And etc, etc, etc.
If we wanted to spend $30k+ on a car, we would probably be looking at a new Sienna as well. But, we don't.
