...wait till you hear about this one.
Some of you here know before I started my own business I turned wrenches for a livin since I got out of the navy. Last place I worked at was ACE Motorsports which serviced a few private exotic collections, one of the hands down most expensive cars in the shop was a Ferrari F50 GT. For those who dont know, Ferrari made a F50 into a full race car to compete in the GT1 series and soon pulled the plug on the program to focus fully on F1, so they made two other GTs with their extra parts and sold off the three cars and the original No.1 of the three was here at the shop, the last one that sold was No.3 of 3 for 1.5 million to give you an idea of what No. 1 would be worth, its hard to estimate, anyways...

here I am trying to look tough, yes those are my shoes off on the ground, really hard to get them down the footwell without driving shoes!

We take the F50 GT out to a Ferrari track day at Sears Point a couple years back and it was the star of the show, our customer Art didnt want to drive it so he had a proffesional take it out on the track, on the third lap he stuffed it into the wall!
Heres the pieces we picked up and loaded into my buddy Erics volvo

knocked off most ofthe right front corner, got into the carbon fiber tub too. The whole thing had to be shipped back to Italy where the original guys who worked on it came back to fix it, never heard the real amount of the repair bill but was said to be over 1mil

Broken wheel

leads to broken rotors. these were 15K each

it gets worse...

Well the car spent 2 years in Italy and made it back over better than new just in time for last years Monterey Historics, it was Ferrari theme last year and Art was determined to get his car on the track to be one of the star cars of the show, but this time HE would drive it, well....

It get's better!!!
Last Tuesday Microsoft X-Box division calls us and asks us to Dyno that car for sound testing, first they wanted liability proof (to the tune of $2m) which we actually have but given the fact that we just could not imagine a safe way to strap that thing to our dyno and simply did not want to take the risk we politely declined and gave them the numbers of a couple of other dyno establishments.
I guess they fixed it quicker this time Jeremy as they wanted to do this in fairly short order I believe.

If it is one of three, with serial number 1 I do not think it can be replaced. It needs to be fixed.
Even money cannot buy somehting that does not exist.

Thats crazy! Funny thing is I have met Art. A friend of mine was the head chef in a resturaunt he owned. My buddy and I talked to him at the historics and checked out his F50, I had no idea he wrecked it the next day. He definately can afford to fix it.
