Well ****

was busted for speeding today, 70 in a 55 zone 12:30am. It would be my first ticket ever and the court date is in 2 months

any adivce/tips to consider when going into court and what to do to try to get the fee as low as possible (maybe even no points on record or w/e) would be awesome

does that really work? it seems unlikely
i can guess theres no way to get it off, but arent there ways to get the fee reduced? (even though insurance will probably still be bad)

going to court get fines reduced, unless the cop is a no show, then you pretty much win on the basis that there is no witness. if it's your first you may get off with traffic school.. maybe.

just get extensions .. as many as u can. and then go into court, hope cop isn't there. If he is, then ask for a fee reduction.

We all speed, **** happens, GLuck on gettin it taken care of. But yes try extensions, and if ur nailed then work out a payment plan, and take traffic school to have that point removed off your record, at your age you need all you can get with insurence!

To hell with all of that. 1st question were you speeding? If the answer is "yes" pay your fine and request traffic school or go to court plead "no contest" and "request a reduction in fine and traffic school". It's the best your going to get. Don't count on the cop being absent from court. They get paid for it. They are always there. Written declaration, they will complete that too. Why do you think cops hate parer work so much? Good luck and go invest in a V1, Bel RX65 Pro, or a Escort X50. Granted these are not a license to speed but I'd bet, you wouldn't have gotten a ticket.

+1 for 'No-Contest'

I've had 2 speeding tickets where I plead no contest and had the fee reduced anywhere from 1/2 to 1/3. If you try to fight it and lose, you will no longer have the option of traffic school. It's only one day, it will suck, but the insurance rate will not go up.

... Ahh to be 17 again.

My first few speeding tickets were thrown out due to the officer not showing. Once I found ticketassassin, I never had another ticket on my record. It's been clear since '99. Yes, it does work. Save your traffic school if you can as you can only do that every 18 months. If you can beat it with ticketassassin, then you are in good shape and you don't even have to go to court.

You shoudn't speed, but then again - you can get tickets when you aren't even doing what you are charged for. I personally would be fine with paying speeding fines, but the insurance crap is why I fight tickets. Since I have not cost any insurance company a cent in 14 years of paying premiums, I don't feel it's fair to have my policy increased because statistically my insurance company feels there is a greater chance they will have to pony up on their end of the agreement we have had for the past couple years.

When I was 17, I had to go to court to request a trial by declaration since I was a minor. Pretty stupid rule, as I requested it because it'd interfere with school, work, and the traffic sucked driving out there, but he still denied it... and to put it in his words "to see your pretty face again" in such a sarcastic way, I didn't know judges could talk like that in court.

Basically, due to age and car, I doubt there's any chance other than the cop not showing. I'd take the ticket and do traffic school.

insurance won't be effected with your first point.

I'd just go to court. Say sorry. Request traffic school.

If it's your first ticket you're eligible for traffic school.

that means you pay the ticket. pay for traffic school. go to traffic school. no points.

really not the end of the world. Just try not to get more than one more in the next 18 months.
