Weird sound at 4k rpm- Catless

Just last night I put on a new up/downpipe which are both catless. Now, whenever I am at WOT and hit about 4k rpms in any gear my car makes some sort of a screaming noise coming from the engine bay. I first suspected that it could be because I had no intake silencer on, so I put that back on and it still makes the noise. So is this normal and if so, what is goin on?

catless pipes allow more sound to come through them. My car has a sound you could call screaming, but that's just my turbo spooling...

it could be exhaust leaks... did you replace all the gaskets when installing the up/dp combo?

Yes, every gasket was replaced along with the eup/down pipe and I'm almost 100% sure there aren't any leaks but I'll take another look in the morning. It sounds like it is the turbo, as for the screaming noise though, it's really hard to describe. It's sorta of a really loud WHHAAHHHH. I had a buddy of mine drive up next to me, and let me pass him, and he said it is EXTREMELY loud from outside as well, he said that he couldn't even hear the exhaust, just the loud whahhh. Aside from all this, I'm very happy with the extra hp im gettin =)

I just retightened all of the easy to get to bolts and it hasn't changed the noise at all. Any other ideas?

EDIT- later on tonight I'm going to take off the dp and re tighten all of the uppipe bolts and see if that does anythin.

take it to Kevin at Auto Headquarter in Redwood City. He'll tell you what's wrong with it just by the sound. If it's the same sound I have (turboback installed about a couple weeks ago), then your turbo is going bad. What brand dp are u using? I'm guessing it's Helix

It's a perrin dp and I'm pretty sure its not commin from the bypass valve. If my turbo's goin bad that will definately make me a saaaaddd panda.

-also, it never made any odd noises with the stock piping.

I also asked that same question. Kevin's answer is that the problem was always there, it's just that you haven't heard it until now, since the volume has increased significantly.

Take it to Kevin at AutoHeadquarter in RC and have him drive your car for 5 min and he'll know what the problem is.
