Weird But True
I bought a Blitz LM intake for my car about 4 months ago. When I installed the intake I also installed one of those "SuperCharge Any Car for $69.95" in my car. I originally got for my Focus.(For those who are unfamiliar with the product, basically it is similar to the Tornado. Only diff is that it looks like a cut up coke can). Everything was fine until a couple of days ago when I decided to take the "coke can" out, because I heard that it could actually rob HPs. Right after I took it out i decided to test my car to see if there was any diff. Everything was fine at first, but when i stopped at a stop light my car started idling really weird, then all of a sudden it died on me. I tried to start it again but it would idle to 1500 rpm then drop all of a sudden and die. I knew the MAF didn't like aftermarket intakes but I didn't know it hated it this much. When I finally got the car to start I took it straight home and installed the "coke can" back. After installing it i started the car and everything was fine. It was back to the way it was before I took out the "coke can". Sooo... I am 90% sure that this $69.95 wanna be Tornado "coke can" could be a solution to the MAF sensor problem that every one with an intake is having. I am only basing this with my experience. There were no scientific reasearchs conducted. I did not spend countless hours testing this theory. So don't go out and start buying a $69.95 "coke can".
This story may sound weird, but it's true.

Hmmm just a guess, but I think with that contraption you've got your ECU believe you live in an atmosphere that's drastically different than the rest of ours. When you take it out, its all confused.
If you wan't to take it out you might have to reset the ECU first.
Then go do some 100mph runs

I never had any problems with the LM Intake. Car runs at it's finest with it installed.
Are you sure that you got a good true reset of the ECU?

I'd done it in my RS going down 680 in the morning to school. It's really not that difficult.
i dont know much about subarus..... but my first guess is that the car is actually working harder to spin tornado thing and actually get enough air around it....
now, when you removed the tornado spinner thing, the engine had an open intake path and didnt need to work as hard to get flowing, BUT it doesnt know this because its adjusted itself to work properly with the tornado thing..........
i would take that thing out no matter what, and do a cold reset of your car, unhook then egative battery terminal, and hold the brakes for a minute or so...
then start her up and dont put her on boost until you are on an empty road and do Shivs ECU quick learning trick:
bring psi to 2.5 -5 or so and hold it there while holding 2600 RPM, youy will need to left foot brake a bit to keep the rpms down and the PSI up
Then again, if you cant get the car started i suppose you cant do his trick
