even if you don't have any modified parts, but lets say you have a lot of stickers and a body kit on the car. what are you trying to do? make it "LOOK" fast right? that is a probable casue, because you car look fast and i may assume that your car is moded and you are a street racer. your body kit and stickers gives the cop same impression when they see a big exhaust.
you don't like it, and i don't like it but we cant do anything about it. but IMO if a car have a huge wing and huge body kit on a stock civic or some car like that, they deserve to get pull over lol

Currently my car isn't flashy at all... least I think. Just lowered, front lip, and rims.I myself have been pulled over 2 times.
1. No front license plate... dude for some reason wanted to check my trunk but not my engine. I had an Carbon Ti exhaust at the time too. This was in Milpitas near the Shell Gas Station 1-2am after folks left for the runs. This was back in the day when you could drive around Milpitas at this time and see people gathering to start racing. I just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.... I was coming home from a friend's house who lived near that area.
2. Launching my car while a Camaro was doing the same next to me. No ticket even though the dude said I was racing.
Nothing yet for making my car looking sexy. Both times i've been pulled over they had other reasons. Also haven't had any searches other than the trunk. I'd like to keep this streak of not having my car searched.
Could be wrong, but I think the reason why people get pulled over is cause of the TINT. I have NO TINT. My friend's red tiburon with no mods and just tint got pulled over once for going 41 in a 35mph zone.

Same thing happened to me. I got pulled for modified exhaust, showed him my paperwork, then Mr. piggy wrote me up for modified emissions. State Referee here i come.

police can't check your trunk unless they saw or have really strong reason to back him up. i don't know kinda weird.
First off that is complete nonsense. Second.....I would love nothing more than for you to PM me the name of the citing officer. If its who I think it is, hes asian, in his 40s and works nights. He tried that crap with me parking at the airport at work in my uniform....i was like I dont think so buddy..move along. He got an inquiry from the citizens review board on my incident and others with coworkers.
Problem with parking in a lot like that is California considers that "off street parking" and technically they can cite for things. However...I dont see how that ticket would have held up in court. It would be like a cop driving by Office Depot when they have their Nascar in the lot for customers to view and citing them for not having mirrors.
