Watch Out Fellow BA Drivers!
My friend's Jimmy was just stolen. I mean, who steals a Jimmy? The ****wads tore up the interior, stole about $200 worth of stuff and then wrote/drew all over the interior with permanent markers.
I flat out HATE thieves. I am the type that will probably end up in jail if I catch someone stealing my stuff.

I got shot fighting off 2 kids who tried to car jack me (in front of my house no less) in Oakland. You can imagine how I feel about the issue. Then I see the vids of cops busting people for street racing. If thats their priority then OPD has their heads up their fckin asses. At least I took the shooter's gun during the struggle.

My friend has a 41 Ford truck, push button start, and the only thing that kept it from getting stolen while he was in class was the hidden killswitch under the steering column. Stupid kids tried to steal his truck because his switch that was hidden was flipped to the on position when he got out of class.

Thanks for ur guys' nice words....Yes I was very lucky. The bullet passed through both my thighs and I could have easlily bled out had the Paramedics not arrived as fast as they did. I moved down to Carlsbad after I recovered and couldn't be happier.
I dont hate cops or anything nor am I bitter about what happened to me. I agree that crime in the BA has been getting worse and its noticable when I go back and visit. When I see task forces being formed to stop would-be drag racers and nothing done to keep guns away from teens I get a bit aggravated. Even down here in the SD area where I live now, car theft is a big problem as cars can easily be driven over the border and chopped in Mexico (as has been stated in the media). I can only say that given the circumstances I've faced, I still wouldn't live anywhere else but Cali.

Man, I'm sorry that you had to go through that. I hope that everything is okay now and that that never happens to you again. I'm just glad that those idiots didn't take your life trying to steal your ride. And yes, I agree with what you say about certain PD's priorities, it's ironic sometimes that the people who mod their cars (yet follow laws) are and will always be looked at as the suspect, and yet we have all these real criminals and thieves running around causing trouble. Again, sorry to hear that you had to go through that, but take care and be safe.
unless someone else has thought of this, you can do a few things to help your car stay immobile if someone tries to steal it.
1. kill switch for the starter
2. kill switch for the fuel pump
3. kill switch for the battery
4. kill switch for the alternator
simple stuff, but also very effective. and the best idea, with any of these, is to make the kill switch hidden.
if someone hops in your car and tries to leave with it, and it wont start... they're more likely to just steal your stereo versus your entire car.
just my 2 cents.

my previous car was stolen twice. the second time the insurance company wrote it off (took the front end, my hid retrofits, and my ssr schumachers)
. i can honestly say, despite the time and money dumped in to the car, i'd rather have the car completely gone. i guess that really only applies if you have full coverage and the car doesn't depreciate too badly, but the car just never felt the same after the first time it was taken even though the body shop did a great job.
all in all, despite the financial loss, you learn that it's just a car and learn not to dump money in to it unless you're considering that money lost. people suck.

My pops had a setup he used in various cars over the years when I was young. He always had a few Corvettes, Porsches, a Ferrari etc. Anyway - it was a box with a 3 way switch where the ignition would go through it. There was a component which was a siren that would be mounted INSIDE the car. Essentially, the 3 way switch - one direction was "normal", one direction was "starter/ign disable" and the final was "special" which included a timer so that the ignition would run for 5 minutes, and then kill, then engage the siren inside the car. His thought was that, someone gets away in the car and gets say 5min away and suddenly it stops short with a piercing siren inside - they are essentially going to GTFO as soon as possible. He did this with relays and electrical circuits and I am sure with todays stuff it would be a lot easier...
Food for thought. Would be cool to bring the door locks into it too, not to try to capture the thief but just to trip them up a little and create another obstacle. Maybe add a 6v siren connected to 12v - sure it will die, but it will make an awesome noise and mos def cause hearing damage...

if only you could hook up a GPS locator and cell phone to it. when the alarm goes off, it calls the cops and reports the location, pair that with the locked doors.

but, i'd shorten the time to run to 10 or 15 seconds.
they're literally just down the block. and their ears are bleeding and the cops are on their way.
