is this an extended warranty.. is so then you don't have to worry about being stock they just double check the mileage.

they probably just want to make sure you havent passed the normal warranty and gone into the extended warranty maybe?

what I was getting as is that they might not let you cancel it if youre already into the extended warranty...since youve been using it by owning a car it covers. know what I mean? I would call them first and find out if you can cancel your warranty with the amount of miles you have. If you re still under the factory warranty, and you cant cancel it, they may void it because of modifications. Because they might void it, you might not get your money back...the whole "you cant fire me because I quit" thing

yes you can cancel it and no it doesnt matter if you have mods. They just want to see how mnay miles are on the car. I did the same thing once I realized the warranty was useless with all the mods i had. They end up pro-rating the money and the amount they give back is based on how long you have had the warranty.

^^^exactly...I did the same thing with my 100k mile extended warranty. They have a chart that will tell you how much your extended warranty is worth based on how many miles you have driven and how many months you have had the warranty for.

If you are still making payments on your car they will send a check to the bank, but if you already paid the car off they will send you a check in the mail.

I did the same thing, returned a 60k extended. The only reason I bought it was because the salesman told me powertrain was 36k on the 2005...and I believed him, only later to know it was a lie. The check went to my bank, and didn't benefit me at all. It didn't lower payments or count toward my next couple of payments...it just came off the end of the loan (best case scenario for the bank). I got my full amount back of $1700 (rip-off) because I figured out I got swindled the very night I drove the car home and checked it out myself.

Be sure to follow the paperwork through SOA yourself, because the salesman is the one that files the orders and he is getting money taken back from him. They get commision on that money. My paperwork got stalled out for like 3 months when it should have taken 3 weeks.

If you can live with yourself after commiting fraud the clutch is specifically covered under warranty. If they can't prove abuse on your part AND they agree the clutch needs to be replaced, they must replace it.

We all know the clutch is a wearout item that is designed for a specific use/power range. If you modded your car or used it in a way it wasn't designed to handle day in and day out, then I say you should just man-up and pay for your own clutch. There are plenty of enthusiast shops around here with great prices on parts and labor where you can get your clutch done the honest way. Besides, you'll have peace of mind for later when you put your mods back on and you know that your clutch isn't going to burn up within a week.

I had the 100k extended warranty on my '03 WRX and cancelled it at 32k with no issues whatsoever except having to deal with Subaru Added Security who lost my paperwork twice. The second time I sent it certified mail, return receipt and they said they lost it again. I called up to give them one last chance before trying to figure out what my options were. Miraculously my refund was processed and I got my check paid in full about a week later.

Not sure how it works through the dealer since mine was the after purchase option thru SAS directly. It was a real PITA that lasted a couple months, but I got my money back in the end. Said it once, I'll say it again - Subaru has awesome cars and $#itty people.

I wouldn't try to sleaze on the clutch issue.
