Dude - don't get me started about the City of San Jose's budget and the goddamn homeless in the creek behind my home; 3 fires in 2 months but SJPD doesn't have the resources to do anything...
In all fairness this is CHP - so it's state money

The state spends and obscene amount of money on CHP staffing and activities but it comes back to them because of the tickets. But that's less money people have to pump in to the rest of the economy. I friggin hate the CHP. It has grown WAY out of control.
Until they start stepping up and actually aiding local police they can **** off in my book. And I'm a huge fan of law enforcement.
Let crime rates increase but write more useless tickets. The theory they push through the politicians is that they keep the roads safer. B>S> You flood a section of highway with CHP cars and people slow down. They go away and people speed up. I drive a section of road that is FLOODED with them several times a week. I see between 2 and 8 EVERY DAY. People still drive like morons through there. Hell I got cut off by a work van this morning. I was going 62 in a 55 and this dude flies by me.. cuts me off. Slams on his brakes. All in front of a CHP bike that had his head too far up his *** hiding behind his handy laser gun to see actual hazardous driving. Stupid. Oh... and mind you the dude almost crashed into a merging semi-truck while he was doing this. But sure as **** they have time to follow me for 5 miles down the highways while I'm going dead nuts the speed limit. Yeah!

We don't have fires where I am, but we have numerous break ins in my neighborhood and the police aren't able to respond to all of them because they are not "life threatening". TWO in the last week.
Note: nobody broke into my place. I have a dog. If I am home when someone tries to break in, they won't be calling police, they will be calling an ambulance or coroner for the perp.
