warning gross-heat pad+ingrown hair+sleep =

i want this to be a warning to anyone using the walgreens brand peel and stick heat pads. the one with small grains of sand like material in them. i guess there was a recall on a batch because they would get WAY to hot.

i had a rather bad migraine and my neck was super sore so i placed a heat pad on my neck to loosen up the muscle. i also shaved my head to days prior and didnt know i had the start of a ingrown hair. i fell asleep and was awakened to a intense pain. heres the result of having the pad on for 45minutes. my skin blistered and filled with puss.

Yeah, looks like all your ingrown hairs had their infections accelerated by the heat and the pad was soo hot it was on the verge of blistering. Good thing it didn't go much longer.

My Dad was left in a Chiropractor's office with a heating pad on him and it left these giant boils on him from overheating after 30 minutes. I looked online for similar injuries but apparently they're rare, they were large, red and hard.

With a little popping and hydrogen peroxide and you'll be good as new!

u should use a hot towel (as in hot to were u dont burn urself) and use that around ur neck, never used those pads on ur neck. they are only good to use on ur lower back or shoulder blades. or get a heating pad where u can trow it in the microwave and put around ur neck. or just get a massage.

lol funny you should say that. the doc actually tested for it. of course i was clean in every way. i swear im the most accident prone person around. instead of messing with them i just let them fester and ooze on their own for the first couple days to prevent further injury.

i have sent a email off to the company that makes the pads for walgreens. i opened one up and placed it on a plastic tuperware container. it got so hot it warped it. i got lucky.
