want iphone cracked screens and backs
Can someone edit the title and take off the question mark.. kinda makes it confusing as if I'm asking you guys if you want them.
Any positive or neutral input is appreciated. Please hold back the negative responses, I know a lot of people think its a dumb/lame/pointless idea but its not being made for you. Negative responses are just annoying
Hey everyone, I was just curious but do any of you know what to do with cracked iphone screens and lcds as in recycling and whatnot? Are they considered hazardous waste, do you have to pay to recycle them or do you get paid to recycle them?
The reason I ask is because I've seen quite a few iphone fixing stations inside malls and independent stores doing it and I'm trying to see if I can talk those places into giving me the broken screens and backs of iphones for free. I came up with an odd but I think kinda cool idea to make a little coffee table for my room made of iphone screens. Yes I know I'll probably have to reinforce it and stuff but that will be for when I get all the screens needed to make this project work.
Any ideas?
Anyone got a friend or buddy that can get a bunch? I've called a few independent stores on craigslist but the managers aren't in right now.

When you dispose of hazardous waste, do you have to pay to get it recycled or do you get money for recycling?
I got a call back from a manager of one of the places I called and they said they have someone that buys them for 2$ a piece and would be willing to sell them to me for that price but I'm not sure if he just made up a number to try and sell them to me because he knew I was interested

Not sure about phones, but with flat panel TVs, you pay the recycling fee when you buy it and can then take it anywhere to be recycled. You cannot legally throw away any electronic device in Ca; it is all considered hazardous and must be disposed of at an electronics recycling center. If you've bought a TV at someplace like Best Buy, I believe you can take anything to them. I think if you take something to the recycling center though, you don't get anything for it.

E-waste is a non-RCRA item. It's not hazardous, but companies won't give you(or shouldn't give you) any used maertials or waste because you don't have any documentation of disposing it properly. If they have an EPA or Cupa inspection and ask where's the waste going and they bring your name up you could be in lots of trouble.
Moral, just take a few lol
