Want to buy a truck for work

I need to buy a truck for work.. for around 6K. Been looking on CL for a tacoma 2.7L With 4X4, but ppl wants too much for it.. anyone knows of a friend or family selling one.

Has to be in good running condition..

Or suggest any other car i should look for?

Don't think your going to get any better gas mileage with an import truck. I have never got better then 16mpg hwy/city with my 4x4 taco. 22re or v6

The tacoma has a 2.7L 4x4. You think that's not any better?

he just said his previous 22RE got 16mpg. What people dont take into consideration is a smaller motor must typically turn higher revs longer to make the power/get up to speed. While a larger motor will typically consume more all around, it doesnt require as much goosing it to make it scoot.

Our 4.7L 4WD 4runner gets a crappy 15MPG mixed driving with a very light throttle foot. They say 16/19, but its really 15 average.

In my opinion, if gas mileage is a factor try to find something like a ford ranger. They are cheaper to insure, cheaper to purchase, and actually get decent mileage with both the 4cyl and V6.
