Wagon to FXT?

Yes I've searched.

I've got some life stuff going on, I'm gonna need something a little bigger than the Wagon. A little more cargo area, ability to have both my dogs in it sometimes, etc. Using the wife's Honda Pilot won't be an option anymore.

I keep coming back to selling the Wagon and buying an FXT. I'm not super concerned with performance, but... well, you know. Not having something fun kinda sucks.

Anybody have experience with both and able to give pros and cons?

Which FXT? The SG body or the latest gen, the SH ? Definitely will be easier for the dogs. Believe me when I tell you you can make an FXT even more fun, and even outhandle/outperform a WRX wagon.
You can find more help over at Forester.org.

we've got an 01 and a 08xt.....have no need or desire for a wrx. their just as much fun with a few mods and generally fly under the radar too.
2 dogs fit in the back just fine, well they did until I put the giant box of speakers in mine.

Fxt are amazing love my 04 since the day I got it. You may need to do some work like stage 2 and some suspension parts but other than that it makes decent power for a DD.

I'd be looking for an 04/05 with a 5 speed. As a bonus I can probably sell my Wagon and then buy the FXT and not have any extra money out of pocket.

Yeah, except they don't just grow on trees. There are manual out there, but they are not always that easy to find.

I know where 3 of them are for sale right now if you're willing to ship them. I've been looking. There's one in norcal that I'm waiting to find out if it's sold already. Guys asking price is high but they're hard to find and he knows what he has.

Expect to pay $17,500-21,000 for an FXT in manual with under 100k on it.

I can't tell you how bummed I was the first time I saw an FXT. I had my car for 3 days and I went back to the lot and sat in one and was very sad. I would have bought one if I knew what they were. More than likely it'll be my next car. Might be soon. Might not be, but more than likely I'll be in an FXT or an LGT Wagon. Depends on how my car holds up. I've decided not to stuff an STI under it unless I fall over one for $6k. LOL!

There's a few in the area right now (manuals), and a few out of the area. A couple of them are priced a bit high though. I couldn't find one at the time which is why I have my wagon.

Yeah, there's one I really like but I think it's around $20k and that's way to rich for my blood. For that much I'd rather just drop a the rest and get something new. My cap is $18k. I don't buy in to the it's rare pay more thing. I pay what it's worth. If I can't get it for that... oh well. I'll wait until I can. I like my wagon. LOL.

Recently bought an 07 FXT manual, 60k miles. So much fun. Already started modding it with big plans for the future (brand new vf39 and STi steering rack sitting in the garage). Might run it in autocross for the slush season. For ****s and giggles.

Never had a wagon but did have a regular wrx and now have an 06 fxt. If you can find an xt in a manual do it and never look back. The shorter gears make it much stouter around town with less power, you never get looked at twice by any body, much more room, huge sunroof....HUGE, and with swifts and an sti rear sway bar the thing handles pretty damn well. Easily the most enjoyable all around car I have ever owned. Now I just need to find a vf48 to go with everything else I have waiting to go on and get it tuned to have a nice little sleeper.

I had an 02 WRX wagon, my wife drives a 2010 WRX hatch and I drive our 08 FXT. The Foz does have more interior space and more cargo room than the WRX wagon but not a whole lot more, maybe look at an Outback or Legacy GT for mots more room. They are fun cars though, same power for the most part, handle just about as good, and if you do get the sunroof its great for trips to the mountains. They are hard to come by though, we have a 4EAT, so the family can drive it and long trips are easier as is stop and go traffic, the car still has plenty of power though. Take your time and look, look, look and look some more, I got the exact car I wanted but it took me a year to find!
