Very frusrated with comcast, am I misunderstanding?

I'm not a genius, but I've worked in the tech industry and would say I'm pretty familiar with anything computer related. Unfortunately on my laptop I haven't had any good virus software as mine ran out awhile ago. I've been fine.

I came to my aunts and installed her comcast, installing the crappy comcast software as I had to make her a username etc.. blah blah

directly after i've been littered with pop ups, an actual virus that will not let me open task manager, control panel, or this free virus software I have.

of course I haven't dl'ed anything else or changed anything that would cause this.

My question is does anyone know if there little software packs are area specific?? I'm almost certain whatever came off their cd opened me up to this. I was wondering if since I'm out of state there is some shady business going on.

***in bull**** eh?

If not I'm ready to make a big stink about it.

I was using firefox. My issue was I've had this machine for quite awhile, I've had comcast at my house now, and 2 previous ones. I use the internet way to much. I travel a fair amount and use tons of random wifi's offered by who knows what company or what area. I've had shiz go down before without dling anything as I use my other machine for all torrents etc.

So I get up here to WA and install this shiz on my machine 2 diff pieces of software, go online, and have been raped by this from the very get go, NON STOP.

I did qa work for 2.5 years on software and hardware, not that im any expert but I'd swear this was directly correlated with the install of their software, not caused by just being online. I got the local bundle from the comcast and picked it up for my very sick Aunt who needs to stay employed and takes care of my 91 year old grandma.

Anyways seem shady as ****kkkk

and they make you pay for the modem and **** up here, bs man. Someday the president better just say **** YOU comcast were gonna regulate that ****. Only time i'd support something like that.

Go to a restore point of before installing the software. In the past system restore has worked for me.

Your symptoms sound similar to the rootkit I got a while back. If it's one of them then you're fubarred and a restore will do nothing, you would have to reformat and start from scratch. Start with Malwarebytes as previously mentioned and Trend Hijack this to start. If after installing them they get shut down as soon as they start up then you will probably have to start from scratch. +1

However, also get avira anti-virus (free-av.com) and threatfire (threatfire.com).

Avira is one of the best anti-viruses, and it's free. Threatfire is a decent rootkit search, but acts almost like a 2nd firewall. If whatever was installed isn't letting you open stuff, do this all in safe mode.

+1. Have had comcast for years and never had to install software. I would just connect via a webpage if I needed to adjust user names.

Sucks you got that stuff on there but nows a good time to back up everything and reformat.
