Valentine 1 question

OK... i got this thing about 2 weeks now...... It sets out alots of false reading and doesn't detect any cops or chp. I am about to return it.

So i was wondering, anyone here in SF have this and had this actually work?

I have it. Works great. No false readings per say. Just very sensitive. Absolutely useless in the city though. In the 10 years I've lived there I don't think Ive ever heard of SFPD or CHP using radar within city limits. Hell, you have to be doing really stupid stuff to get pulle over within SF city limits. Pretty useless unless you're out on open stretches of freeway or backroads.

I know that SFPD do not turn their radar on but i dont know about CHP... i mainly turn it on when im on the freeway or highway. so now im questioning myself should i keep this as my 400buck beeper or just return it and save that money to buy coilover .

Im still kinda paranoid not to speed over 65 since the ticket i got

Go to www.valentine1.com and read up on how to program it not to beep for X-band.

In my experience, (I've had my V1 for about 4 years) real cops are K and Ka band. I've never seen a cop with X-band, and can't really say about laser. I do know I get a false laser warning on 101 around redwood city all the time. Also, I think cars with laser rangefinding cruise control cause false warnings.

Actually, I did see a cop in Ohio shoot his radar gun at me, but my programmed V1 didn't beep. I assume he was using x-band. Luckily, we're not in Ohio...

turn off the x-band. and dont bother using it in the city. in fact, the only times i have gotten true readings with my 8500 in the bay are on 580 and 80.
