dude(poster) sounds kinda too pushy... Carlsen's kool! my wagon is there right now getting some new synchros... even gave me a free upgrade on a loaner. so i'm rollin' a friggin ford f150 crew cab... it's hella big and slow though ha!
That guy gets no sympathy from me, sounds like he's a pushy whiny ***** who had a fit in the dealership, I can understand him complaining about the manager sticking a hand in his face, and things probably could have been handled a bit better by Carlsen.

Hrm, strange. I had really good service at Carlsen, but I guess there are always exceptions. I had something replaced under warranty when I was there last time, free of charge. They also gave me a free oil change on my next visit since they didn't really fix the issue the first time. I've also had Kevin work on my car each time, but the other Subaru techs there seem like they're people you can trust.

His command of engrish is not the best. (easy to misinterpret, etc).
Carlsen rules. Always gotten great work from ALL the techs and all the service advisors. If that guy had not been a d1ck and let another tech work on his car, everything would've been fine. You know how many people go in there asking for "Kevin only" since they read about it on here or NABISCO? Maybe if he's rebuilding your transmission or swapping the engine out, but for a freaking REAR DEFROSTER???
Bah...whiners.

yah technically they don't have to let only Kevin work on it. They can let anyone do it. But I do feel sorry for Kevin. He is getting overworked
And Ronni is cool!

The guy is a bit pushy and does have an attitude problem. As a service provider, they have the right to refuse service for whatever reason they want. The fact the poster got mad about it showed the poster did have an attitude problem.
When I went to Carlsen Subaru, they've always been courteous. The one time they did screw up (they had a Stevens Creek mechanic there for awhile who ****ed up on my car - forgot seals for diffs and thus leaking oil), I brought the car back and they fixed everything. They gave me some free stuff like a SWRT t-shirt and what not. All my interactions with Joe and Howard have been great. I think the fact that the guy was pushing just for Kevin to work on his car put them on the defensive right away.

Sorry if someone came up to me after looking into something and the first thing they said was "you know i don't really have to help you", I'd be pissed. That's bad customer service. Sticking your hand in somebody's face, that's something that would get you beat down if you're doing it to the wrong person.
Sure the poster's story is prolly embellished upon, but if there's any truth to the above statements, that's TERRIBLE customer service. If I were ever treated like that by anyone, you can be sure I'd be posting everywhere I could letting it be known.
You know the first thing they teach you in customer service courses is that you NEVER tell the customer no or imply that something can't be done. (Ever seen "The Negotiator"? Same concept.) It's a simple thing that keeps most situations very civil, obviously Howard and that other guy never took a customer service class.

I've had a good AND BAD experience at Carlsen. Someone there scratched my car and busted the lower fender mount (at the inner fender)when my car was in for a warranty clutch service.
I still go back because they did the right thing when I complained (so I'd still buy from them).
Edit- I just read his post. HE IS A FRICKEN TOOL!!!! I don't think Carlsen was out of line.

customer?
There seems to be something major being overlooked here. People keep saying "the customer is always right"... who started the myth that this guy is a customer? He bought his car somewhere else and came looking to take the time of probably the highest paid tech in the shop. As an actual Carlsen customer (2 cars, 3 years), I'm glad that I'm probably getting preference over someone like this, just as I'd expect someone paying for service to get a little more preference over me.
