UH OHS!! Comcast might be dropped in Sac area!
Looks like Comcast might get dropped for "accidentally" mis-calculating their taxes owed..by almost $1m.

Sacramento County Threatens To Pull Plug On Comcast
County Says Cable Giant Owes $800,000
POSTED: 5:45 pm PST March 25, 2004
UPDATED: 6:48 pm PST March 25, 2004
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento County has threatened to pull the plug on cable TV giant Comcast after an auditor's report found that the company underpaid almost $1 million in local taxes.
A report issued Wednesday recommended an unprecedented punishment, urging the county's cable commission to begin proceedings to terminate Comcast's license to operate.
The staff report by the Sacramento Metro Cable commission says that Comcast owes $790,000. The commission says that they have never recommended pulling the plug on a cable company, but that repeated failures and lack of cooperation has county officials now considering the strong action.
The auditor's report states that Comcast underreported gross revenue; it left out Folsom, Galt and Citrus Heights in its calculation of Sacramento County revenue; it reported net, rather than gross advertising revenues, as required; and failed to report all national advertising and shopping channel revenues.
Comcast pays franchise fees, like taxes, to local government, based on its gross revenue.
Commission spokesman Richard Esposto says Comcast acknowledges the debt but hasn't paid.
"I briefed them on Feb. 18. They got a draft of this report on March 4. They know the dire straights that local government is in. And this is money owed. They just keep asking for delays. They don't come to a resolution," Esposto said.
"We received information from the commission on March 4," said Comcast spokeswoman Susan Gonzalez. "Now, we are a few weeks later, and we continue to have ongoing discussions with them. And these will be resolved."
"We have to get their attention because fair is fair," said Cable Commission Chairman Robbie Waters. "The report shows that they grossed $160 million in this area last year. And so, I think we should have our $790,000 returned as soon as possible."

Wait. Doesn't the CEO of Comcast whipe his *** with $800,000
I alone pay $99/month for Internet and Digital Cable through these ****ers. All they need to do is increase the cost $1 for 1-2 months and this problem would go away.
Im not worried.... if my next statement said i had to sacrafice a small goat to save my cable then i'd do it.
EDIT: My internet connection with comcast has never gone out on me in my 9 months of having them either.

as for paying 99 bones for cable and internet access, that's too much. at teh I-Club hotel, we get satellite in 4 rooms and 3Mbps DSL for less than that.

you can get regular DSL which is like up to 1.5Mbps for i think 29.95 a month but it goes up to 49.95 after a year. We have up to 3Mbps with a minimum of 1.5 for 44.95 and it stays the same after a year. as for satellite, it's 54.95 a month for regular programming + local in 4 rooms. it's actually about the same price you're paying, but at least it's not going to comcast. probably the only thing worse than them would be Surewest / Roseville telephone.
