Yep, the only thing that is economically and environmentally friendly to recycle is aluminum.

Watch "Penn and Teller's Bull****" the episode on recycling will open your eyes.

My brother works for one of the big garbage companies and he said that everything goes to the same sorting facility anyway whether or not you put it in recycling or not.

Sorted by hand, mind you, because they don't trust you to recycle correctly.

He also said that a tiny portion of what is put in recycling even gets recycled. Something about there not being enough capacity to recycle everything that comes in or something like that.

its not so much as "hating the environment" as it is "recycling actually uses more energy and resources than using new resources for the products."

Wow, you have grouped pollution and energy shortage in same bucket...it's not generally.

I will agree though, that if you reduce electricity usage, you will reduce pollution in CA due to our oil and coal fired power generation.

The biggest issue in CA around pollution is the CA EPA - they are a bunch of lawyers trying to get as much power/control as they can.

If it were legal to publish what they sue for and what the concessions are the residents of CA would be outraged..but part of the lawsuits are that they cannot disclose...really silly stuff, but it gives them more control every time they do it.

The CA coastal commission and the CA EPA are power grabbing under the guise of pollution control. You want real pollution improvement, reduce power usage in homes and businesses, not with TV's but with insulation.
