They start with the 18-20 year old and they move up from there..
Currently, I think they can get you up until you are 26 or 27.

I remember someone was talking about changing that a few years ago.. so they could get you up until you were 30 if need be.

way back when I was 18 I had to fill one out when I joined the marines. A lot of guys at the recruiting office who were in their 20's never filled one out either. The way the goverment is now it may be wise to fill one out. The army is having a hard time recruiting and they are or have raised the age of enlistment. The max age to join used to be 27 but I don't know now since I've been out since 2002. The army needs people so bad because so many kids are fat and can't join. The new age is probably going to be 30 or higher. Pretty sure they also ask if you filled out the selective service form for any us govt job. My wife works for the DOJ and I think it was on her application but it didn't apply for women.

correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to check the box that says sign up for the selective service thingy when you take the SAT's or something? Or maybe it was on the public college application form

yes but i used to be 18 years old y'know.

selective service is 18-25. i never got the thing in the mail but always heard about it. you could get a form at the post office as well. they are pretty visible when standing in line too, theyre next to all the forms for like certified, priority mail, etc with big fonts like "you have to sign up, its the law". WHATEVER....

like theyre going to hunt every kid in america down who doesnt sign up. if they really wanted to track every form they send out, they would have done certified mail, but you think they want to spend the money to send EVERY form certified? its not worth the investment, let alone trying to hunt everyone down.

I have a nagging suspicion this isn't the first time you've "screwed the system".

It sure as hell is. Kids that didn't play sports in high school made me look like a prodigy in Basic.

I think the possibility is there.. although every person says that they dont want it and it wont happen.. The fact that enlistment is and has been down the last year an average of probably 60% overall will mean they will need to find new ways of aquiring cannon fodder.

As far as I am concerned, service should be mandatory for all those that are able and 18. Minimum 2yrs. AS for you ****o's that continue to dodge the system and hide from duty. Shame on you!!!
