Trying to buy a daily driver
Someone at work is selling his 91 integra GS and I'm interested in buying it as a daily driver to keep some of the miles off my subaru. One of the things I asked him was what the maintenance schedule was like. It has 106k miles right now and he says he changed the oil between 6-10k miles. Now, that seems high to me, what does everyone else think? Is this a car I'll have problems with because of that oil change interval? I thought 3-5k was proper. Other than that, the car looks great and the price is nice. I'm hung up on that one point, though..

you should be fine on the oil thing. definitely ask when he last had the timing belt changed. if he hasn't replaced it, and it's not broken, you're ok, but will need to replace it soon (since it's supposed to be done at 60k). Also, ask if he's ever replaced his ignition assembly (coil/rotor/cap), because if not, the coil or another piece of that will likely fail soon (no fear though - the whole thing only costs like $500 to replace at the dealer). I know my coil and my gfs coil both went around 140k miles - she has a 90LS and I had a 91GS.
They're pretty kick *** cars, man, so have fun with it if you buy it. Sometimes I still miss my old GS, but compared to my WRX it was like walking.
