Tragedy at Fontana...
Something that always bothered me about those shots: why is there a concrete barrier near grass runoff? Has anyone ever heard of dirt or sand?!? Im no physicist, but wet gras doesnt exactly have a high coefficient of friction.
Might as well replace the concrete barriers with spiked walls. Maybe put a mine every 2 feet or so if you are really concened about safety

true that...not the safest thing in the world.
There are enough tires in the world that you could line every wall of every race track in america to soften the blow.
but you never know..you stick sand there the car could go airborne and they'd die anyways.
Fact of the matter is you put your own life at risk when you're on the track/riding or driving. the faster the car the faster you go the higher the risk. The better the safety equipment the lower the risk...etc.
It's a sad sad thing that happened. But it happens. Professional race car drivers, weekenders, whatever...everyone messes up. The faster you're going the slimmer the line.
