It was the Pit marshall's fault. He sent in a Ferrari which the Porsche driver saw while approaching at well over 100, swerved, hit the barrier. passenger killed instantly, driver died of wounds.

What a tragedy. It would've been a different story if they were wearing a 5 point harness and HANS device.

well. the hans would have definitely helped... and i think if anyone is seriously considering doing a lot of track driving, investing in a hans device may be entirely worth it.
i'm not sure the exact details of what happened, and would rather not speculate. there are investigations going on, and legal actions may be taken with regards to ferrari club and the school sessions they put on.
so... before we make conclusions of what happened and what the gory details are... just keep in mind to be safe on track...

I was thinking the same thing.

I think that cars with the kind of capability of a GT should have to be equiped with extra safety equipment for track use. Just because the car can go 150plus on the track doesn't mean the driver can.

Such a tragedy. At least the emergency crew was on top of it...as for them having no burns. I'm glad they didn't have to take the fall.

You know if it is your time, you cannot dodge it. Our prayers are with the families left behind.

The roadways we frequent are more dangerous than any track event. You go figure!

The worst of it all, the driver left behind a wife and an 8 month old daughter.
My condolences to the families...

Yah right. The GT hit the concrete barrier so hard he knocked the wall over. I am sorry to say it but there is no way you can hit something that hard and walk away no matter what safety device you have.

Half the car was missing If you were on that half unless you had a magical forcefield you would be pretty much SOL.

Condolences to the family.
