would you know how to get the springs out? what type of tools did you used? any help or suggestions?

Yes sir I would. Basically just a big screwdriver to do some prying. It's pretty easy.

The lock is a bit harder, but nothing a smart guy can't handle!

I've got an '02 silver with a wing and I've been looking to go wingless. As far as I know the 02-04 is a direct swap. I'm in Southern Oregon if you would be interested in trading.
